Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Aug 20, 2012 7:30 am Hi, We remain puzzled about noises we get coming down our rangehood that is vented to the outside in our kitchen in our new house. Every time it rains we hear a ping ping ping sound of rain drops. No water ever comes out of the rangehood and there is no sign of any water pooling but the sound is so loud that every time it rains you hear it and it sounds like it is hitting just above the unit where there is a solid area above the fan. We have had the builder out and they claim that there is no signs of water getting in and their decision is that it is simply the echo of rain hitting the hood which is a tin type material. But the pings sound so loud we just can't believe the rain is not getting in. We do also get howling winds coming down which the builder says they have had complaints about before. I am just wondering if anyone has experienced this before or if it is normal. We don't trust our builder to tell us the truth about anything so it is hard to believe what they say. They never actually sent out the person who installed it to look into it, just their site supervisor who came to that conclusion that it was an echo.
