I'd like to find out a few things: - Aesthetics: Recent pics - rangehood as a feature? rangehood hidden/boxed? - Functionality: Is the island rangehood effective at removing smoke/steam/odours? (people's person experience) We didn't try to hide ours, but the line happens to match the line of the cupboards against the wall, so it's not jarring. The effectiveness depends on the brand; we have a Schweigen, and it's pretty effective, and not as noisy, although I think the install is not a 100%, so noisier than it should be. Hi PHL - thanks for your response - do you have any pics? Also do you have a single storey or double storey home? Just wondering whether there are additional complications with fitting the island hood in a double storey .... Building ??? with ??? Can you help me out and provide some specifics about your installation? - How high are your ceilings? Is this a single storey? - Is it mounted on a bulkhead? - What is the distance between gas cook top and rangehood? - Is the rangehood ducted to the outside? Building ??? with ??? Re: Island cooktops/rangehoods? 11Jul 23, 2012 12:30 pm Ceilings are 2450mm, single story. It is mounted on a bulkhead, mainly to conceal lighting, but also to minimise the length of the metal duct cover. We have the rangehood at 700mm above the gas cooktop. And it's ducted; the motor is external. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Are you going to have the frame exposed or are you cladding it with something.
