Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Mar 16, 2012 7:41 am Hi there We are looking to put in a new kitchen into our home. What brand kitchen appliances are good ? What have you used in your home? Have you been happy with them? I am still deciding on whether we go induction / gas or electric for our cooktop? And what type of oven to buy? In our last home we had a 90cm Smeg underbench oven however a double oven or 2 ovens - maybe steam (are they worth it?) would be better for a family of 4? Thanks so much!!! Re: Kitchen Appliances - Oven / Cooktop 2Mar 17, 2012 5:02 pm For good mid range I would look at Bosch. We have bought 2 60cm ovens, a steam oven and a convection microwave (yep 4 ovens) all miele, but we are still building so cant say how good they are. I think a steamovenis the way to go, they seem very versatile, but get a programmable one, apparently if you get the cheaper ones they are very diificult to estmate times to cook etc (then again I cant cook so anything to make it easier is good ) Re: Kitchen Appliances - Oven / Cooktop 3Mar 17, 2012 9:23 pm Would have to agree and disagree. Would have a Miele oven anyday over the bosch. that said, Bosch are still very good. I went and had a look at the Miele showroom again this week - everything looks beautiful but I found the ovens look really tiny? Do I need 2 ovens? What model have you purchased? What combination have you gone for? What other Miele appliances have you purchased? Re: Kitchen Appliances - Oven / Cooktop 5Mar 22, 2012 9:21 pm The miele ovens are actually one of the biggest interiors of all the 60cm ovens. Im not sure of the models I just got all the knobs to match BUt we bought 2x ovens, 1x convection microwave and the programmable steam oven We also bought the miele dishwasher with the adjustable top cutlery drawer. Re: Kitchen Appliances - Oven / Cooktop 6Mar 22, 2012 9:36 pm Really? MIght have to take a couple of trays / cookware items from home to see whether they fit or not. I know what you mean about the handles matching LOL Ok - back to studying the brochures again Re: Kitchen Appliances - Oven / Cooktop 7Mar 28, 2012 11:39 am I would always go for a gas cooktop. Not only because it is better to cook. Recently we had the power away for two days and we were really happy to have gas. The problem is that most of the things sold today are not really made to last. If I would have the money I would buy gaggenau, but I haven't tried that because of the lack thereof. We have a Neff oven and it does what it should only the door is difficult to clean (the dirt which falls in between the oven door and the oven). Re: Kitchen Appliances - Oven / Cooktop 8May 21, 2012 7:10 am We went with Baumatic when we did a kitchen reno and have major regrets. The ignition switch started ticking after 6 months ... apparently due to water/liquid either spilling over from cooking or when cleaning ... not sure how one is supposed to avoid that?? http://sheilasu.blogspot.com.au/2011/04 ... laint.html My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
