Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Jan 13, 2012 4:41 pm Hi we are building our second home and have got to the stage of selecting our kitchen appliances. Last time we built we had a very limited budget and went with Chef wall oven, cooktop and range hood and a dishlex dishwasher as part of the builders standard inclusions. I must say I had no real issues with any of these products and they were working fine after 3 years. This time however our budget can stretch a little further and I was hoping to get mid range appliances. Can anyone recommend which brands to steer clear from as we are pretty clueless in this area? I picked up a baumatic catalogue today and since reading a few reviews am thinking twice..... Is blanco, Westinghouse Bosch a better brand? Any help will be greatly appreciated Re: Kitchen appliance clueless 2Jan 13, 2012 6:24 pm I think Bosche is the best out of those three but probably the most expensive blanco get mixed reviews and generally i think Westinghouse arent to bad. From the research i have done would go for the Bosche if the budget can stretch that extra bit. Re: Kitchen appliance clueless 3Jan 13, 2012 7:34 pm I'm really happy with our Blanco appliances-I did pay to upgrade to the Blanco Induction cooktop and 750mm oven ( has the same internal space as the 900mm but different external setup) but kept the dishwasher which was included ( mid range model for Blanco). I know of others who have hated their entry level Blanco dishwashers though. We had Westinghouse in our last house-with a Dishlex dishwasher. Dishwasher was Ok, but we found that gunk got in between the layers of glass on the oven and we had issues with the gas cooktop too. You will get assorted stories about all brands though! IF the need ever arises I'll definitely be getting Bosch again. Bosch Ovens may look small but they have a great layout and it easily fits my biggest tray which was a squeeze in the last oven. Oven is quick to heat up, heats evenly, grill is fantastic and have only used it on mid and low settings but have found only really needed low. Bosch may be a little more pricey, but if you're able to wait until they come on sale and get them. You won't regret it. Re: Kitchen appliance clueless 5Feb 20, 2012 9:35 pm I have been using Teka oven, combi oven / m/wave and steamer for 12 months now and just found they have a new distributor in OZ. Their prices seem very good and European quality like the Bosch. You really need to set yourself a budget but also have some firm direction in product expectations that can deliver the styles of cooking you enjoy preparing. Re: Kitchen appliance clueless 6May 31, 2012 8:28 pm For a mid range dishwasher you can't go past Asko. Really good value, no plastic blades or floor. No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6626 2 4669 that will depend on the kitchen bench depth. you'll have to specify it so it allows for both the tap and the sink 1 7380 |
