Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Dec 08, 2011 2:36 pm We installed a new Ilve freestanding stove in our new house and have had continual problems with it. I wanted to know if other people have had similar experiences with their stoves. We wrote 3 letters to Ilve regarding the problems, but not one reply. I think a discussion on a forum such as this is a good way of discovering if their is a problem. Re: Problems with Ilve stoves 2Dec 10, 2011 4:21 pm They look good in the store but parts and finishing are poor quality. Had to replace element, door, door seal, door hinges all within 5 years. Temperature control is poor. Control knobs lose their markings and fall off. Service and parts expensive. Avoid. Re: Problems with Ilve stoves 3Dec 11, 2011 9:17 pm The oven in our old kitchen was a Ilve (it was there when we moved in) and to this day I still don't understand why that oven was worth so much, it was a nightmare from the start!!! So when I started looking into a new oven, this time a 900mm freestanding oven I did a google on the Ilve, after salesman after saleman tried to sell them to me, and lets just say what I didn't find many people complimenting them, and actually found they still had the same problems today that my 15 year old oven has!!! Anyway I found a few websites dedicated to Ilve haters like this one http://stephendownes.com/?p=85. This is not to say that there are a lot of people out there that love their Ilve, they just don't seem to be overly vocal about it, which isn't unusual! I make wedding/celebration cakes from home, so it is always in use... Have never had any dramas with it.. good luck Problems with Ilve stoves 5Apr 10, 2012 6:35 pm I am glad to hear you are happy with your Ilve. We have just installed one in our new house (we are moving in next week) and I was a bit worried about the negative reviews I read on the Internet. I have to say that I also found plenty of negative reviews for other brands too. I have just put it down to the fact that unhappy people let their feelings be known while happy people don't feel the urge to share. I am not a brick expert, but rendering would be 1 option, it would be costly to do the entire house though.... 2 6678 Hi all, has anyone been ask to do the weeds in their property while in the middle of build?
