Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances Re: I need help picking a dishwasher!!! 7Nov 02, 2011 11:45 am AJW Just brought a Bosch and cannot speak highly enough of it. The model I brought was the SMU68M05AUSS. Prior to this the only place I have lived that had a dishwasher was in a rental when I lived in London, the brand theere was NEFF. Wasn't a bad machine, but the new Bosch run's rings around it, which it should too considering the NEFF was probably about 10 years old. This is the model we have and I see universal love for Bosch dishwashers on many forums. But in my view this is not a good dishwasher. It is exceptionally quiet. It has many wash options including a very good short cycle, it uses almost no water, it looks great. BUT...we have found it does not wash dishes very well. And I think it is because this machine just uses so little water. Every wash we have at least one or two dishes that still have food on them. The other thing it does not do well is dry. I like the idea of saving water usage but when it comes at the expense of not properly washing the load then it is a bit pointless. I need help picking a dishwasher!!! 8Nov 26, 2011 6:00 am Hi We had a Bosch in our last house and it was fantastic. In the new place we were planning on installing an Bosch SBV63M00AU fully integrated unit, but yesterday I spotted a new one from Electrolux. The model number is ESL67040R. It looks good and is about $400 cheaper than the Bosch. Does anyone have any experience with Electrolux dishwashers? The same model is also sold as an AEG, and apart from the AEG having a 5 year warranty vs 2 I can't see any difference in features. Paul We had an electrolux in a rental we have just moved out of, In a word terrible. Main complaint was the racks, nothing fit cups and glasses would fall over and it was noisy. Friends of ours just installed a Siemens which came out on top of a recent choice survey and they are very happy. We are going for a Miele which is quite a bit more expensive than the Bosch. Reason.... the racking system is great and it self opens at the end of the drying cycle, simple but effective way to dry everything. Re: I need help picking a dishwasher!!! 10Nov 26, 2011 7:17 am The first dishwasher we ever got was in our previous house. It was a Westinghouse, and it was fantastic. We made sure we got the top model though, and it even had an internal light. Just looking at their website now it looks like things have changed a bit since we bought that one over 5 years ago, and I'm not sure where they stand in the pecking order of things now, but ours was built like a truck and we never had a problem with it. We have a Technika now, it came with the house, and while it does the job it is flimsy by comparison. Admittedly though it has been fault free for over 3 years now, except for once when it wouldn't begin its cycle because the inlet filter was blocked (easily fixed). It's not the sort of brand that I'd rush into a shop to buy though. Bosch have always had a good reputation. Geoff - Decophile.
