Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Aug 26, 2011 9:41 am Hello all, I've been reading posts here for several months now and trying to pick an oven and cooktop for our new home. I would appreciate any feedback please on our choices as we are new to choosing in-built models but that that is what my better-half wants. My budget is limited to about $3,000. So my strategy was to spend approximately $2,000 on the oven, with 900mm or 750mm inbuilt being the main requirement. I looked at the 900mm models in the low-ranges: Omega, Linea, Baumatic, Bosch, Blanco. The Linea model had the largest internal space but the performance was unknown to me ( not much feedback on the net). The Omega and Baumatic had quite negative reviews. I know Baumatic and Linea are distributed by Think appliances. Finally I settled on the 750mm Blanco, as it had slightly better space than the corresponding 900mm model, and a better price: http://www.blanco-australia.com/Product ... 135&id=107 The forum posts have been mixed for this oven (thought reasonably OK for Blanco) but the price and specs seem to fit our requirements. In case this is a nasty choice please let me know! For the cooktop, we are looking at a 900mm or 750mm model, gas with the flame cutoff being a requirement. I am budgeting about $1,000 for this. The main requirement is the main Wok burner be off to the side, not in the middle of the cooktop. I finally settled on this: AEG 900 cooktop (or the corresponding 750mm) http://www.comparison.com.au/cooktops/AEG/A905VPGB-m. This model seems to be discontinued. There are new models on the AEG website: http://www.aegaustralia.com.au/Products ... Gas/HG75FX http://www.aegaustralia.com.au/Products ... Gas/HG90FX If you have any opinions or experience with the cooktops or the oven please let us know. Thanking you very much in advance. Re: Advice on appliances: Blanco oven and AEG cooktop 2Sep 01, 2011 10:27 am Hello rdefonseka I have the Blanco oven. I can't find the exact price we paid for it but it was under $1500. As with all the appliances in my new kitchen, I'm delighted with it. I can do 2 roasts side by side on the top shelf, roast veges and an apple pie on the bottom shelf. All at once! I too was looking at the 90cm oven but downsized as I found the cooking space in this was, in my opinion, all that I would need. I've only used the fan forced and grill setting thus far. Without any drama. If I could change anything, it would be that the temperature would be electronic push button rather than a dial. I have to bend down to see what the knob says for temperature. My old oven, which was 15 years old, had an electronic temp readout with up and down buttons so you knew exactly what the temp was. This one is a bit more subjective. But for this suburban Mum, it is doing a great job. Here's a pic of it but sorry about the badly placed teatowel in the photo! viewtopic.php?f=16&t=13838&p=746405#p746405 Re: Advice on appliances: Blanco oven and AEG cooktop 3Sep 02, 2011 10:05 am Hi emeri Your kitchen looks lovely and thank you for your feedback about the Blanco oven. ...back to your kitchen, those twin dishwashers look fantastic! Best regards Re: Advice on appliances: Blanco oven and AEG cooktop 4Sep 15, 2011 10:06 pm Hi, Just my two cents. I have a 900mm oven and the door a fallen off. Have been trying to get it fixed for about three months but the service guys keep bringing the wrong or not enough parts. I have two friends with exactly the same oven and their doors no longer close properly. You might be safe with a narrower oven but I'll be steering clear of them in my next kitchen. Rebecca Re: Advice on appliances: Blanco oven and AEG cooktop 6Oct 18, 2011 3:00 pm I have a blanco oven, 600mm and I hate it. First thing is if the power goes out I need to reset the clock, I dont find that terribly easy (the instructions are pathetic), before it will turn on and heat up. Second thing is the hum that happens when the fan is on, and I dont mean a gentle hum...this is an awful loud noise sounds like something is vibrating against it ...but what I dont know, and the longer its on the louder it gets. Third thing is the panel that shows the time has come unglued and the little dials for the clock that sit in it, have fallen out, and cant be put back .... not so much of a problem in itself, until you add it to the first thing I hate about the oven. If our power goes out, I cant set the clock which means I cant turn on the oven! As I said instructions are hopeless and I got accessories that I dont know what they are meant to do...nothing in the manual at all about it. Considering it came from the house builder it probably is one of the cheapest ones available, but when we finally are able to upgrade (and fingers cross we dont have any power outages until then) I am not going to buy a blanco. I agree whole heartedly as both my appliances (Oven and Dishwasher) did not last long out of warrenty- never again will I buy that product. The dishwasher nearly burn't my new kitchen out. The oven just burn't the element out, cheaper to buy a new oven but not a Blameco! My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven. It's personal preferance 5 10827 Hi Chippy, no there isn't, gave it a really good look through and literally opened everything and checked all edges as well. Hence the question, just hoping someone would… 2 2071 Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing.
