Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Aug 25, 2011 5:51 pm Hi Guys and Gals, Whilst trying to get a better price for a Schweigen Rangehood I stumbled on another brand of Silent Range Klasse Appliances. These are effectively Schweigen Ranges with baffle filters. They do have a slightly different canopy design but use the same motors. I know it was mentioned in another thread that Schweigen would be releasing a baffled series but they told me they had no intention of any such thing. Today I found that they have set up a whole new brand for their baffled filter silent extraction ranges. Brochure link is below for anyone interested. It looks like they are asking Around $100 per unit over the Schweigen equivalent for the baffled units. They are also distributed by the same group although the website does not appear to be up at this stage. http://www.prestigeappliances.com.au/brochures/Klasse_DPS_web.pdf Re: More Silent Rangehood options 2Aug 29, 2011 4:39 pm Hi, We were also interested to have a Schweigen Rangehood but could not find an installer locally ;-( The ones that were willing to install had to come from interstate and would charge extra for travel. We ended up trying a Miel canopy and went with it. I must say we are very happy with it. It's ducted outside, silent and we paid much less for the whole thing including installation. “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end” http://www.buildinganewhome.com.au Re: More Silent Rangehood options 3Aug 30, 2011 10:16 pm Hi C&K, Do you know how that range-hood would go with a double story house. I am not sure how the ducting would go up to the eventual ceiling unless there are cavities for plumbing and other services. Any thoughts? Cheers Mark Re: More Silent Rangehood options 4Aug 30, 2011 10:49 pm If you can arrange it so that the kitchen is on a external wall then it can go through the external wall. Also if you specify that you want this type of rangehood your builder should have ample time to arrange a suitable install procedure and make sure there is enough room for the ducting to run. I know there is not usually a lot of room between ceiling and floor, but with enough notice and confirmation in writing you will have all that you need to install one of these. The Klasse is a newer version of the Classic; unfortunately when listening in on them, the Klasse is noisier, so we're going with the Classic. Re: More Silent Rangehood options 7Oct 02, 2011 8:26 pm Thats an interesting idea eyspy but if you want the motor outside then you would probably need a much more powerful motor which would use more energy and be noisier from inside. Paul Yep, bought my Schweigen the other day. For anyone interested, The Klasse brand are not available at any discount, which makes the Schweigen even better value. Klasse are on consignment only (like Meile) so you can only get them at the RRP at the minute. I had a good look at Klasse but the finish wasn't as nice as the Schweigen I wanted. Oh and for those in Melbourne, Camberwell Electrics did a great deal on my Rangehood with out having to really haggle at all. The best price aside from them was $200 more Re: More Silent Rangehood options 10Oct 08, 2011 7:16 pm chrisandkate For anyone interested, The Klasse brand are not available at any discount, which makes the Schweigen even better value. We were offered the same deal on the Klasse range as for the Classic range; perhaps the associated $11K+ ovens purchased at the same time had something to do with it. You'll be happy with the Classic, as that's what we went with; as I said, the Klasse was noisier. 2 4466 I ran into trouble finding a lock that would fit my particular door, like your situation with your pivot door.
