Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Aug 15, 2011 10:44 pm Hi guys. I'm Mike from Melbourne How are we all?
I am currently doing up my entertainment room and want to add a Fridge into my cabinetry that will be going in. Basicly I have a Red Feature wall with my TV on it flanked by two Spaces for Shelves and what not which have yet to be put in. On one side will have all the AV Equipment and the other will have the Fridge and other things. Ideally I would like to keep the design of these cabinets as sleek as possible but at the moment I am having issues trying to find the right fridge to integrate into it. Here is what I have to work with. I only have a max of 600mm in width for the Fridge as i would not have any other Workable room for the shelving that would be incorporated into that side of the wall, and a max of 600mm in Depth as that is the Edge of the wall and everything needs to be as flush as possible. Hight is not an issue. I am torn between buying a fully Integrated fridge like the Miele K 9552 iD or a Free-standing Fridge that has an Integration kit. I have had two other thoughts but one is less appealing to be honest. One way would be to have a Door over the fridge door but not actually have it connected and have to open 2 doors (less appealing idea..hehe), and the other would be to Find a Aesthetically pleasing fridge that would go with my colour scheme. With the latter scenario, I was looking at the Smeg FAB28 but according to the specks it will jut out by 75mm. I really don't need a Freezer. I have two in the house as it is...haha Any Help and thoughts on Models and Brands to look at?? I have looked at a heap of websites including Whirlpool, Westinghouse, Toshiba, Samsung, F&P etc. and some of the few I have found that are just fridges and fit the specs I am looking for have had bad reviews relating to Build quality and noise. Fridge for Entertainment Room 2Aug 16, 2011 11:28 am Have you thought about a commercial display fridge with a glass door? It could be made a feature of the room and integrated into cabinetry. You would, of course, have to keep the fridge fully stocked and neat look at: http://www.skope.co.nz/display/ These are available in Australia too. But I couldn't find much about having them integrated...and was told not to put a veneer over the glass as that could lead to issues so I abandoned the search. I have seen some images on sites like Jenn-Air that show wine cellars with glass doors but rather than showing the steel frame it has a veneer finish over that...I liked the look of it. How can they be integrated with the Cabinetry? via a Kit or something of the sort? Fridge for Entertainment Room 4Aug 16, 2011 12:14 pm I'm not sure but a cabinet maker would be able to help with this I'm sure. Give them the specs of fridge and they will be able to come up with a solution. I had forgotten about Jenn Air, great fridges. I would contact Skope direct for a list of suppliers or look for a commercial/catering refrigeration specialist on google. Cheers and good luck! Have you thought about asking your local auto spray painter to paint a regular fridge in the same colour red as the walls? This is not totally integrated but probably as close as you'll get and you would probably be able to buy a cheaper fridge. He could also paint some infill panels for the top and sides to act as wine storage....see Biff Constanza's reno thread as he's got a really nice vertical wine rack. Just another thought! Re: Fridge for Entertainment Room 9Aug 16, 2011 4:23 pm Thanks for that Idea portas. I think ill stick with the original color of the fridges for the time being. The idea of having the Wall that color was so it was the feature and not to have something else of the same color near it. The Color scheme of the room is Black and red pretty much. My piano is black, Pool table is Black with a Burgundy Felt and a Red Couch on the oposite side of the wall which will be Red with a Black TV on it. As for the Wine Rack, I like what Biff has done. I have an idea for a 6 bottle rack I need to draw up, to see if it will work, that ill use to showcase my prize wines Back to Jenn-Air - Apparently they were bought out a few years back by another group...Starts with G...cant remember what it was exactly. So Jenn-Air australia is no more. I liked their Beverage center on their website. The draw Fridges are Interesting but i havent seen many in action... Wouldn't mind seeing one set up. So Jenn-Air australia is no more. I liked their Beverage center on their website. Hi again Tyriall, I'm tipping the manufacturer starting with G is Gaggenau. G for gigantic cost though. I just love their range of kitchen appliances but can't afford them. http://www.gaggenau.com/AP_en/products/fridge-and-freezers-overview.do Enjoy Building NBG Buckingham 320E Eastern Suburbs Melbourne Knockdown & rebuild Build startup 28th October 2010 http://buckingham320e-the4ofus.blogspot.com/ Re: Fridge for Entertainment Room 11Aug 16, 2011 10:54 pm That's the one!! Speaking of Drawers... Just found this Wine Cooler( http://www.bar-fridges-australia.com.au ... nt_Venting).. I don't mind it but it looks a bit like a fingerprint massacre waiting to happen..hehe... I'm considering Getting a Small 30-40 Bottle Wine fridge...Any suggestions? Dual Zone or single? If i do ill try and incorporate it on the opposite side of the wall depending on the fridge i get...So far the Leibherr SIKP 2850 is Winning in terms of the Fully integrated Kind. If i go for that i will only bee looking to spend max $1000 on the wine Cooler. I'm so sorry I'm asking so much...lol...I'm extremely new to the world of refrigeration and have no clue...haha I have seen some Beverage centres from GE and they look really cool but they are not available here Trying to find some that are available here Fridge for Entertainment Room 12Aug 17, 2011 7:31 am I love it! Even integrates into cabinetry. I would go for the dual zone (red/white wine) Love the smoked glass drawers. The only problem I have with the unit is that I want one now. Great solution and good price. Otherwise some rethinking is needed. Still yet to find an atteactive bar fridge though the hunt continues!! Re: Fridge for Entertainment Room 14Aug 19, 2011 11:14 am I was looking a husky's retail site in the UK and found a 7 bottle wine cooler which looks cool and a dual zone one for 30 odd bottles that look really nice. Any ideas where I could possibly get them in australia. Not much in the way of husky products here from what I can see. Only the coke and heiniken branded fridges at Harvey Norman Re: Fridge for Entertainment Room 15Aug 24, 2011 3:01 pm WELL.... I just got back from the store with a receipt for a Leibherr Integrated Fridge http://www.premiumapp.com.au/productpag ... p2850.html Now for the adjustments to the designs for the wall cabinets...Does any one know where i can get some Ornate Handles to put on the Door...i really want to stay away from the Straight Silver bar type handles. Fridge for Entertainment Room 16Aug 24, 2011 5:05 pm Awesome Tyriall! Leibherr fridges rock. I have the SBes7503 side by side with Bio Fresh and freezer/ice maker combo and love it to bits. As for handles, I have bought from Handles Plus in Richmond before and they have a good range. http://www.handlesplus.com.au/ Cheers Building NBG Buckingham 320E Eastern Suburbs Melbourne Knockdown & rebuild Build startup 28th October 2010 http://buckingham320e-the4ofus.blogspot.com/ Fridge for Entertainment Room 19Aug 26, 2011 1:03 pm Sorry for late reply.
