Look for a model that :
1.has a timer delay, so that you can programme it to wash at night.
2.can do a half load

Asko 3. Bosch Miele and Asko have Fan drying options in certain units where as Bosch dont use them at all - Still great units but for attention to detail this is the order the brands fall in. Be very careful when looking at base model Bosch units as they are very static and can be a little annoying to stack. Look at mid range up. Miele & Asko still very flexible at entry point. Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 25Nov 29, 2011 3:51 pm Linda232323 We have a Bosch and we're really happy with it. It's so quiet when my mum came over she could nt believe it was even on. We got the model with the cutlery tray on the top shelf which I love cuz it is right next to our cutlery drawer makes it's much easier to unload. Our new Bosch dishwasher is not quiet at all - do you think we should go back to the supplier and query? For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 26Nov 29, 2011 6:17 pm yep we cant really hear ours. we tell cos the timer is going down! I do find on mine, the wash cycles are not as good as the 30 min cycle. even though they are 2 hrs and up to 20 mins. The half load is 2 hrs long! easier to just press 'quick' wash if it is a half load. Some things (like cereal bowls) come out much cleaner in 30 mins than in 140 mins. so not totally happy with my bosch. it is a lifestyle automatic. not sure of the number. it will be on the manual, which is miles away from me at the moment! Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 27Nov 30, 2011 10:19 am A quick wash will never be as good as a Intensive, Pots & Pans or Auto wash A quick wash is simply washing for 30 mins @ 45 degrees - No soaking or Drying. Why does everyone get so caught up in short washes? A 1hr 20 - 2 1/2 hour wash does not just wash for this time it focuses on Multiple Washes, Soaking & Drying to get better results. Also washing temps increase to 50 - 75 degrees which means if you have stuff stuck on plates etc it will get them off. The other thing that people dont realise is that dishwashers use MORE energy when on a Quick Wash as they are rushing. Longer washes use as minimal Energy & Water as possible to save and to get the better results. A quick wash is there for LIGHTLY DIRTY items that need to be turnover quickly. The Bosch units are quiet so you may have an issue Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 28Nov 30, 2011 10:48 am I thought that too, but the longer washes leave the dishes not as CLEAN as the 30 minute wash why?? Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 29Nov 30, 2011 10:58 am I would consult the manufacturer as this is definitely not right. Also try Intensive & or Pots & Pans wash to see results. Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 30Nov 30, 2011 1:27 pm Used them all, Just to see which washes the best, and I have to say 30 mins is as good if not better ( no cereal left on bowls etc) As the longer washes. I like to mix it up a bit, sometimes auto, sometimes intensive , sometimes pot, sometimes even normal!! But I am impressed with the 30 mins. It is an excellent wash cycle on my machine And the machine is nice and quiet. We had a baumatic 40cm one, lasted 3 yrs...awful And a 40cm Bosch for 13 yrs and still going in our old house ( which lasted longer than our earthquake ravaged house has) Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 31Nov 30, 2011 4:33 pm Would definitely disagree with a quick wash being AS good. They are fine for quick turnover yet do not go to high temps, dont soak or dry. I have had used all 3 top end brands in Miele, Asko & Bosch and there was a difference in Quick VS Better washes Being happy with a Quick wash is one thing - Yet to say its better than the others is simply not the case. Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 32Nov 30, 2011 4:38 pm you are so right. My dishwasher does an awful job on the 30 min wash. Cereal stuck on the bowls, food still on the fish slice, my mistake, what was I thinking! Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 33Dec 01, 2011 1:08 pm Haha thats fine i thought it was weird. The cereal stuck on will struggle at a 45 degree quick wash (30 mins) Yet on a high degree wash which will also include soaking will get it off perfectly. AG Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 34Dec 01, 2011 2:50 pm although, like I have said in my last 3 posts, it doesnt but we will agree to disagree (30 min cycle on the bosch lifestyle machine, really is a good experience people, TRUST ME!! ) ok, moving on....... who else has something to add re a dishwasher?. Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 35Dec 01, 2011 4:47 pm kiwi you are so right. My dishwasher does an awful job on the 30 min wash. Cereal stuck on the bowls, food still on the fish slice, my mistake, what was I thinking! Sorry you have lost me now you said it does an awful job now your saying it does a better job??????????????? Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 36Dec 01, 2011 4:51 pm l think kiwi is taking the mickey out of you,omo Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 37Dec 01, 2011 5:29 pm If that is the case anyone can be a smartass - And everyone has an opinion Yet a pure fact is that a QUICK WASH WILL NOT do as good a job I should know as I test for manufacturers Re: Dishwasher - what to consider when buying pls ? 38Dec 02, 2011 7:27 pm Interesting discussion here people! These days I use the 30min quick wash on a daily basis in my Blanco dishwasher because it is as GOOD if not BETTER than the longer cycles for the dishes I need to wash. I'm talking about general dishes such as cutlery, crockery & glassware and lightly soiled pots and pans. I have tried all cycles on the machine in the 12 months I have had it- and this works for us!
