Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Aug 04, 2011 10:07 pm We are currently looking at appliances for our new home. We are planning on either a barrazza flush mount or a miele flush mount cooktop. However, we were speaking with a miele consultant tonight and she informed us that miele only guarantee the cooktop if it is put in a marble or granite benchtop, not Ceaserstone due to the high heat. Help has anyone else heard this, does Barazza state a similar thing?? I'm sure I have seen some flush mount cooktops in ceaserstone on the forum. ??Danrts in Cairns.. Might go and ask him... Re: Flush mount cooktop 2Aug 05, 2011 8:37 am I think you will find that this is because of the fact the Caesar stone is man made and must have some form of glue/adhesive to keep it together. This could affect the way the stone disperses heat (meaning it may transfer heat back into the cook top) granite and marble are solid stone and naturally absorb heat better. Re: Flush mount cooktop 3Aug 05, 2011 8:44 am I have a flush mount induction cooktop on Ceasarstone. Can't see a problem with usign Ceasarstone. Think about it, cooktops can go on top of MDF + laminex, so Ceasarstone would certainly be more heat resistant. Can't see what the problem is. Can't see a problem with usign Ceasarstone. Think about it, cooktops can go on top of MDF + laminex, so Ceasarstone would certainly be more heat resistant. Can't see what the problem is. The MDF and laminate will disperse heat differently than Caesar stone. The Caesar would IMO hold more heat thus making the immediate area around the cooktop hotter and this may be the reason they do not warrant them. The cook tops may need more adequate heat dispersion. Re: Flush mount cooktop 5Aug 05, 2011 5:55 pm Chrisandkate, Thanks, Yes I believe it is something about the heat in a man made stone and how it conducts differently to a natural stone. FYI, we are looking at a gas cooktop, not induction, Miele siad we could get a induction flushmount without any problem. Will send a question to Abey/Barazza and see what they say. This is so frustrating, after getting hubby to agree to paying the extra thousands for one (cause they look so good )and now we may not be able to use it Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Flush mount cooktop 6Aug 05, 2011 6:09 pm Can't help with your question but wanted to say: Wow!! It would be an extra similar to an undermount bowl. CuttingEdgeKitchens They do look good but bare in mind that it will cost more for the cutout. It would be an extra similar to an undermount bowl. And of course I'm going to be looking that sexy using it Re: Flush mount cooktop 17Aug 08, 2011 8:32 pm gogo65 Don't worry I have thought about that , in my current home I have black granite and love it, so may just have to do that, ceaserstone isn't that good is it Personally I would never choose Caesar stone. My in-laws have granite and that is what we will be replacing the laminate that comes as standard when the $$ allows. Brother in law is a CS installer and has offered us a top at a really good rate but i would rather hold out and pay the money for the granite. If you want the cooktop, spend the extra money and get granite as well. As a side note: all CS and Quantum Quartz is made overseas, where as you can buy Australian stone for a similar price if you are prepared to wait for the right time. Like I said I have 40mm granite currently and have had no problem with it, however for this home I prefer the colours that ceaserstone allows. So I just need to make sure that the cooktop will be OK with ceaserstone, otherwise will probably go for induction.
