Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Jun 17, 2011 5:39 pm Can anyone advise me whether or not it matters what size rangehood you put above your stove. I have a stove width of 900mm and want to put a rangehood inside a chimney above it. I cannot find one to fit but can find one slightly smaller. I have heard that you can do this but others say you cannot. Any advice would be appreciated. Rangehood Size 2Jun 17, 2011 5:45 pm There is no legal requirement for rangehoods at all however most people choose a rangehood either the same size or slightly larger then their cooktop - mainly because it looks better IMO. If your rangehood is completely hidden (am assuming the cooktop / stove is being installed into an old fireplace cavity?) and there is nothing precious / damageable by oil / food above the cooktop (ie brick mantle / chimney) then I would think it would be fine. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Rangehood Size 3Jun 17, 2011 6:10 pm Great and thanks so much. The rangehood would be completely hidden inside the chimney and the smaller size is easier for our builder to work with too. We intend to put splashback around the oven but apart from that there would be nothing precious at all that could get damaged or ruined as the oven itself is inside the chimney. Thanks so much cos we have been hearing so many different versions we don't know who to believe. Dear Members I have to decide the Facade column size. Dunno how to delete this post, can't find any help file. Cheers. 1 3658 Current door width is approx 2700, looking to have double doors fitted 820-820.
