Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 May 26, 2011 10:53 am I'm in the market for kitchen appliances (gas cook-top, electric oven, rangehood) but struggling with what brand to get. I don't want to spend a fortune, but also want to avoid cheap and nasty . I looked at Baumatic in Good Guys and the prices was good, but the online reviews were terrible (especially for the curved glass rangehood - which has a great design!). I've also looked at DeLonghi which are more expensive but seem to get better reviews. I'd love some advice on how to navigate the various brands, what to steer clear from and what's good value for money?? Re: Advice on kitchen appliances 2May 26, 2011 12:10 pm There are many topics on this. If you use the search function you find quite a few with different opinions. When it all boils down if you spend good money on appliances you will get the best result. Cheaper models will lack features or build quality or both. For my mind Bosch is the way to go when looking at the upper end of mid range through to the middle of high end appliances. I will never have another conventional rangehood EVER. I'm sticking with Schweigen or other external mounter motor versions. It also depends on your wants/needs. If you want or need a 900mm oven you will be restricted in choice and the difference could be big. Also with cooktops, 900mm can be cramped up if the layout is not well thought out. Its RRP is $2499 The oven has never been turned on. There were a couple of small marks on it but nothing to worry about. I suggest you look at some better quality brands, even our rangehood has needed to be replaced after less than 2 years and it is a pretty basic device.
