Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 May 25, 2011 12:02 pm I'm working on the final placement of appliances etc in my new house's kitchen, it's an L-shaped with an island bench. I'd like to put the cooktop on the island bench, problem being the raked ceiling. At the coener of the room the ceiling is 2700mm and it's 3900mm at the centre. The height where it has been placed in the plan is 3400mm. I'll be combining the oven and microwave into the one cabinet and may remove the freezer which would give me enough space between them to place the cooktop if I need to, but the height here is still about 2700. So anyone know of a solution? Kitchen as it was drawn up: http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa248/Dr_DGpix/Farm/Kitchen.jpg Re: Rangehood for raked ceiling?? 2May 25, 2011 2:20 pm Our kitchen ceiling starts at 8' on one side and goes up to 16' on the far side of the dining room. We didn't use the flue that came with our rangehood. We just got a piece of stainless steel bent into the right shape by a fabricating joint to give us a new flue for our rangehood. Cost about $250. We have collected it from the fabricators but haven't installed it yet so no photos, sorry! Ours is against the wall, but there's no reason you couldn't get one made for an island rangehood. Re: Rangehood for raked ceiling?? 4May 28, 2011 10:28 am I'm having trouble linking images, but this house has a raked ceiling and they have a side exhaust built into the bit sticking out of the bench. http://www.ruralbuilding.com.au/range_f ... untry.aspx the 4th pic is the best pic for the kitchen Today is under construction.
