Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 May 07, 2011 10:35 pm I'm asking this question on behalf of my daughter & s.i.l. who are building & would appreciate any ideas for their dilemma ... Behind their oven is a clear window (no splashback). Also there are NO overheads. (**This is going to be a double story home**) Their only option to place a range hood would be from the ceiling. Does anyone know of any 'in ceiling' brands of range hoods or have any other ideas how to solve the problem? thanks in advance Jazz Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Range hood dilemma ... HELP NEEDED 5May 07, 2011 10:59 pm tinkster, there are no over heads. Jazzie, what you are searching for may be an island canopy type range hood. Very similar to a wall mounted version only the chimney/flue is centralized instead of against the wall. This may still hang down in front of the window depending on how high it is and the dimensions of the window. FWIW I don;t see why you couldn't hang a regular wall mount range above the window. You may need to get a high end Schweigen or similar that has a lot of power and an external motor, but it will work much better than a conventional one. Re: Range hood dilemma ...
