Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 May 03, 2011 3:37 pm Hi, I'm currently in the midst of building my house and planning to get my own Miele kitchen appliances (oven, steam oven, induction cooktop, dishwasher). Unfortunately, Miele doesn't do installations and my builder is charging ridiculous installation fees! I'm wondering if anyone had the same experience as me. Do you mind sharing who did you go for installations and would it be cheaper? Is it better to get the builder to do the installations or to outsource? I'm afraid there will be problems with the fittings and electric issues if I get someone to do the installations. Thanks! Re: Installing Miele appliances 2May 03, 2011 5:55 pm It goes like this The kitchen is designed electrical sources get into place if none and gas as well Cabinet maker builds the cabinets in designated areas and the appliances that go in and work with the place and dimensions of them. Plumber is in charge of new pipe installation, sinks and taps Electrician will connect your appliances once the cabinet maker has the cabinets in place I do outsource everyone and that is my job It may be cheaper for you to do the same but tradies may be reluctant to work with someone with little or no experience hence will charge you more or the same. On the other hand I find it strange that he did not discussed the installation costs perhaps his way of thinking was that if you can afford Miele then you can pay higher prices. Re: Installing Miele appliances 3May 03, 2011 7:30 pm Our builder did our kitchen installation. he organised all the tradies etc. Its a big job and a few headaches along the way. I would think carefully about outsourcing work if you have a good builder. You get what you pay for sometimes Re: Installing Miele appliances 4May 04, 2011 9:58 am I would not skimp on the money when installing Miele appliances. Make sure the install instructions and guidelines are followed to the "T" as if any warranty issues arise, Miele will check every little detail of the install before approving any warranty work. I have had first hand experience with this, even though the owner was flambe cooking with a wok, it still came back on to me as i was under by 10mm with the rangehood height. Surely if you have bought Miele appliances, you can pay for someone decent to fit the appliances properly. They are not cheap appliances, and i would hate for anything to go wrong. Hi everyone!
