Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Mar 11, 2011 12:59 pm (thought I had posted this, must have lost it bugger!) So I have the option of getting an Ilve P906WMP for $2999. RRP is apparently $7999. It is ex display. I noticed today when looking at it again that the upper grill is hanging down ever so slightly, when I ciompared them to other Ilve's in another shop they were not hanging down, so I told the shop, they rang Ilve and Ilve is apparently sending out a part to fix. Will fix this before I take delivery me thinks. I did put a refundable deposit on it, but I want to make sure it is the bargain it appears to be? I have been looking at Fisher Paykel # OR905DBGFX1, Technika TU950TME8, Smeg C9GMCA, LG LF96105s5 or Blanco FD9085WX. Have been trying to narrow my search down to look at features versus cost. My budget is $2500, the Ilve will take it $500 over but I can live with that if it is the huge bargain it appears to be. I want to make sure that the product is of good quality, long lasting and performs well, which form what I can gather the Ilve has a good reputation? Any reason I should not get it? Re: Should I get this Ilve 90cm cooktop?bargain price 2Mar 11, 2011 1:39 pm In a nutshell, yes.. Pretty mid-high end brand - Bargain- Solid and quality italian product. Just double check the burners haven't gone out of alignment in transit.. and all good. Given your budget, and all the other brands listed, it's a big step forward vs the other brands you mentioned. Re: Should I get this Ilve 90cm cooktop?bargain price 3Mar 11, 2011 2:00 pm Yep, you should buy it. No upright with a price of $3k would compare to the quality of that. An extra $500 will make you very happy Re: Should I get this Ilve 90cm cooktop?bargain price 4Mar 11, 2011 2:12 pm an $8k cooker...you are going to LOVEEEE cooking on that thing!! how can you not have a big smile, each time you think of the real price. Re: Should I get this Ilve 90cm cooktop?bargain price 5Mar 11, 2011 4:31 pm I was doing some research this arvo, and a lot of people have issues with it. In the choice test it came in last, although when you read the test, the issues they mentioned are not things I would think of os dealbreakers, although it's strange that they said it performed the worst for scones http://www.choice.com.au/reviews-and-te ... sults.aspx This site makes me nervous http://stephendownes.com/?p=85 and makes me wonder if I should just get a cheap oven rather than a bigger investment. Then again is it just one of those cases where you can find lot's of bad reviews about anything? Re: Should I get this Ilve 90cm cooktop?bargain price 7Mar 15, 2011 2:16 pm To be honest with you, if you look hard enough ,with Smeg - Technica - F&P - etc etc etc - you will find issues as well. IMHO - they certainly don't build them like they used too .. and that's not just a cliche .. parent's have one of the Chef stove / ovens from the 80's - still going strong..lol. Interesting.. i must say, the clock issue seems to be a major design issue - Saying that though - I would seriously consider an Ilve if we had the funds at home, or when our existing stove packs it in..lol.. Re: Should I get this Ilve 90cm cooktop?bargain price 8Mar 15, 2011 2:38 pm My mum has a 90cm Ilve and she loves loves loves it, so I have bought 1 too. I have found good and bad reviews for almost every oven out there, so I have decided to go with something I have seen at work, and someone I trust can recommend. Re: Should I get this Ilve 90cm cooktop?bargain price 9Mar 16, 2011 5:43 pm Pippi, I haven't got it yet, still trying to decide. Anal that I am, I have a spreadsheet created of different cookers, to compare functions, and am trying to go through each and see what the reviews are. I had ruled out Technika due to too many peopel saying bad reviews, (although I have not seen them) smeg also seems to have a bit of a hate club. I am really really undecided on the Ilve. I have gone through that website again today to look at each issue mentioned and see hwo serious I think it is. The clock issue is irrelevent, it's an older model. The numbers fading on teh knobs, well it's not a reason to not buy a stove. and I can get them engraved b4 they fade. The oven doors exploding, that's a concern, but I wonder if all ovens can do that? I rang Ilve and she said if the door is taken off and the nail screw screwed in too tight, that can put pressure on the glass and cause that. I'm going to try to work through each review and see. They DO seem to have rectified older issues. Connie what model does your mum have and what do you have, and how old are they? oh it's also interesting that they came bottom of the choice report. I had called Ilve before and I emailed her the link to it cause she hadn't heard of it. I am going to call her again tomorrow or friday, I had to go mid convo as someone I was expecting arrived. I might also go to the Ilve showroom in camberwell and talk to someone there and see what they say. Re: Should I get this Ilve 90cm cooktop?bargain price 10Mar 18, 2011 8:18 pm Well I bought my stove today, and bought a Glem. This one http://www.glemgas.com.au/Glem_Product_ ... PROEI.aspx I'm very happy with my choice. Glem seems to have a very good name, I am hard pressed to find many negative reviews for it. Whereas the Ilve, sure some people seem happy, but the negative reviews far far outweigh the positive. And in the end, even though the Ilve is very pretty, and even though I could have got one for a legitimate bargain price, that is not good enough reason to buy a stove which has too long a history of complaints. But I am glad that hunt is over, it was exhausting! Re: Should I get this Ilve 90cm cooktop?bargain price 11May 10, 2011 9:49 pm seems like a lot of effort but im sure we would of been doing the same , we told the builders we dont want an oven and we shall find our own , trying to save the coin but wanting a great product at the same time but i spose its like a sweetner for a deal to say it for free , so we are getting a 900mm free standing technika Balisimo Quality-- ??? not sure, Performance-- ??? not sure, Reliability-- ??? not sure, Cost-- cheaper than a loaf of bread well in a sense Just hope its good as the mrs can chef it up big time , but i love her for her , not cause she can cook i promise Dennis Family Homes Columbia 211 Deposit paid- 21/03/11 Re: Should I get this Ilve 90cm cooktop?bargain price 12Aug 19, 2011 3:20 pm Hi Guys, Problem here is your comparing units which are not at the same level (Eg Technika is a very basic/cheap built brand - Cant compare this to Ilve (Handmade in Venice with good components) As i have mentioned before you might find a negative comment on a product like Ilve but you need to compare how many Ilve Freestanding Ovens have been SOLD comparing to a Glem? The answer would be a lot more Ilves then Glem - Glem are a not bad mid range brand but once again cant be compared to an Ilve in terms of build. If looking at top of the line specialist/commercial built cookers other brands to look at would be: Ascot, Falcon, Bertazzoni, Viking, Wolf & a few others Next step down at Top end brands i would look at the Smeg, Bosch, Belling then mid range brands like Omega, Baumatic, Blanco........... My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven. It's personal preferance 5 10879 Wow I hadn't realised things had gotten that pricey in just a couple of years since I built, that is crazy with how much land is now costing if you aren't lucky enough to… 3 7136 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 35332 |
