Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances Re: Induction or gas cooktop plus steamer oven 6Mar 10, 2011 8:25 pm Neff are the cooking specialist in the BSH family and build the Ovens for Siemens & Bosch I would highly recommend Steam Ovens or Combi steams - The Neff combi steam is a fantastic purchase. Whoever told you an Induction does not work well with woks have obviously never used an Induction they are more powerful for wok/frying etc cooking and have lower running costs then Gas (Much quicker in transferring heat) Cant compare Induction is the next step up from Gas also Woks or Frying pans get their heat in their base and flare up the sides! Re: Induction or gas cooktop plus steamer oven 7Mar 10, 2011 9:08 pm PHL Theresa I’d be interested to know if anyone uses their steam oven a lot too. I chose a Neff combination steam oven as Neff and Siemens were the only two brands that did a combination oven. How do you find the Neff combi-steam? I'm still building so haven't tried it yet. Re: Induction or gas cooktop plus steamer oven 8Mar 11, 2011 9:26 pm Is there a rule regarding the distance between a gas cook top and a glass splash back? We've been told there has to be 200mm and if so we might have to get induction as we can't fit a deep bench top. Different story if you are using a wok induction cooktop with matching wok (such as Spice Temple is using), but the normal cooktop just doesn't spread the heat up the sides sufficiently. Saying that, most gas wok burner doesn't have a very high energy output, so would be no better I guess. My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven. It's personal preferance 5 12351 1000000% definitely add insulation.
