Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Feb 19, 2011 5:44 am I thought I was wanting an oven tower with seperate grill and seperate 900mm cooktop. Husband doesn't think it is worth the money. He wants to stick with the all in one cooker supplied by the builder (a great big wide thing - Blanco). We're not locked into the builder yet but they said we could change items but not brands due to supplier issues. Still early days and I'm trying to work out what my thoughts are and if I should stick to my guns. The sales consultant has suggested to go with what they supply and change over after, but this is a huge waste to me. Any thoughts? Pros/cons? Re: Can someone teach me about ovens 2Feb 19, 2011 6:28 am We went with the builders standard all in one unit. We think this was a mistake as we both much prefer a separate grill. Re: Can someone teach me about ovens 3Feb 19, 2011 7:22 am We are getting a technika 900mm standing oven as it comes with the package. I think work out the cost to you if it isn't what you want. If you are in the kitchen and using an oven alot then it will be worth getting something you are really happy with. Ask your husband if he would settle for the garage size he wasn't happy with or whatever applies to him. If you can get what you want within your budget then I think that is the best solution. We are getting a dishwasher also in the package but have our own old which one we are happy with so we are just going to try and sell the new one. Alos do some research on the oven you will be getting v's the oven you are wanting. I find if I can show him on paper he gets it better. Good luck let us know how you go. Re: Can someone teach me about ovens 4Feb 20, 2011 8:37 pm From what i have seen with people getting freestanding units, unless you are paying reasonable to BIG $$ you probably aren't going to like it. I have a few friends who got cheap ones and they hate them. I've got 2 other friend who spent moderate and BIG $$ and they really like them. In terms of your builders line on brand, I'd simply tell them if they don't give you a full credit for the appliances and allow you to get your own, that they won't be building your house. I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15020 2 10947 |
