Re: Tell me about your freestanding oven 2Feb 04, 2011 10:05 pm Hi - we have a Linea freestanding. It really is a great oven. Although we put ours in around 3-4 years ago and it was one of the first type of this mofel out. I had a few issues with the Gas stop 'burining the element' and it would make the oven stop. We ended up going through Linea and had a man come out to install a replacement and it's been fine for the last 2 yrs. But the oven man (sorry can't think of a name for that proffesion!) he said new models come with a 'cooling' element. So the gas cook top doesn't keep burning the oven element out. I assumed he meant all models, but it could be a good idea to ask the salesman if the oven has this capability. Other than that, love love love my oven cooks evenly everytime. I don't know if bosch make ovens, but we have a lot of bosch appliances and I just think they are engineered beautifully. I especially love my dishwasher!! Separate grill, two ovens - one fan forced one ordinary, warming drawer and six hotplates. Love love love it!! Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Tell me about your freestanding oven 4Feb 05, 2011 9:26 pm Thanks for that.....we saw a Ilve today amoungst others that we are leaning towards. Those Falcon ones look great but looking for something a little more contemporary. Thanks again! Re: Tell me about your freestanding oven 5Feb 05, 2011 11:55 pm I'll be on the hunt for one soon. I love gas so I'll be having gas in the oven too however we think this time we'll get a dual fuel in the oven so you have the choice of electric (which I understand is better for pastries etc) or gas (which is better for roasts). I love your stove Kyton...mmm just remembered I bought a lotto tonight, maybe I should check it. Re: Tell me about your freestanding oven 6Feb 06, 2011 1:26 pm Well we have picked out some products and pretty happy with the package we have. I was thinking that for our budget (around $10K) we would only get freestanding oven, rangehood and dishwasher, but I have been pleasantly surprised to get that plus fridge for under that!!! My experience is most rangehoods are not worth the space they take up and this Delonghi moves only 400m3 per hour. A good one should do at least 600 and a Schweigan or Qasair will do closer to 900. Yes, performance is very important to us!!! No I think I read it wrong. Regardless, try and see the appliance in operation. Make sure it does actually extract cooking fumes. Some manufacturers measure airflow at the fan, others at the point of extraction. In my experience, very few rangehoods are any good and you have to pay good dollars for ones that work. The only ones that seem to be universally recommended are Qasair and Schweigan. For me it was almost the most important applaince selection in the kitchen because a rangehood that does not work properly ruins your enjoyment of the kitchen. Re: Tell me about your freestanding oven 10Feb 08, 2011 1:26 pm I will bear that in mind, thank you.
