I'm not sure if this is what you meant, but I wouldn't be inclined to recess it (if you even can?)- would be a bit of a pain for cleaning I would have thought? And maybe not as aesthetically pleasing... I think you have to buy a cooktop that is specifically designed to be flushmounted (again could be wrong...? But this was my understanding when we got ours.....) Anyway here's a pic - http://i998.photobucket.com/albums/af109/mymoogles/DSC01457.jpg Building on the Sunshine Coast - Land settled 22nd July 2009 Building contract finally signed (after much deliberation on our part) 11th November 2009 Building commences 25th January 2010 - small local builder End of June - almost completed fit out 26th July - MOVE IN DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Re: Recessed / Flush mounted induction cooktop? 5Oct 01, 2010 10:06 pm - Just thinking - this may give some idea...... The top drawers are full height - so the cooktop does not encroach on their space at all - the thickness of our stone is 100mm - so the cooktop fits into this space easily... Re: Recessed / Flush mounted induction cooktop? 6Oct 01, 2010 10:17 pm Moogles, everytime I see it I'm just blown away by your stunning kitchen Sorry natty- have no idea about the cooktops! my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Recessed / Flush mounted induction cooktop? 7Oct 02, 2010 8:01 am nattygee Has anyone recessed or flushmounted their induction cooktop into their benchtop with success? How deep was the recess? Pics would be great. I do not think is a good idea since the joint (sealed area) will accumulate dirt and grime too difficult to keep clean right between the edges .The cooktop cut out if need replacing will require the same size or larger cooktop once the old one is out. Re: Recessed / Flush mounted induction cooktop? 8Oct 02, 2010 9:17 am Hi moogles, thanks for that, your kitchen looks great. Grinder, I never thought of when I need to replace things as the benchtop is a fortune so maybe it is better to have them sitting on top. Hmmmm! Re: Recessed / Flush mounted induction cooktop? 9Oct 02, 2010 7:42 pm Natty Gee Whilst I take grinders point I am not so sure yo ushould base your decision on this alone. If cooktops were needing to be replaced every two years then maybe but by the time your cooktop has seen its day, I would say you would be in line for new bench top anyway. I LOVE the flush induction and that is what I am having! I LOVE the flush induction and that is what I am having! Have to say this was my thoughts too - I guess I am biased though. There is absolutely no gap whatsoever on mine between cooktop and bench, so no areas for any grime to get to. Re: Recessed / Flush mounted induction cooktop? 13Oct 04, 2010 8:56 am Moogles what brand/model is your cooktop? This is the look I was after too but the Miele cooktop I was looking at sits above the benchtop as far as I know. Also could you tell me how high/wide your drawers are? I've been struggling with putting the cooktop somewhere inbetween the massively wide drawers which are 3 deep and then realised yesterday my pots won't fit in them LOL. Yours are perfect! Sorry I keep taking ideas from your kitchen, I think I should just buy your house lmao. OH one more Q. Is the double door cupboard to the left your fridge or is that elsewhere? I've always wondered how you go with the fridge being handless if that is in fact your fridge there. I know you said you had leibherr, which have super strong seals and I wondered how on earth you went opening it without handles? Thanks again x Re: Recessed / Flush mounted induction cooktop? 14Oct 04, 2010 2:14 pm Hi Mrs Green, The cooktop is Miele - it is the flush mount/finished one - it had only just come out when we did our kitchen I think... The drawers are 720 wide x 340 high - fit our pots in them okay. YES! You are right, to the left is the concealed fridge and freezer (they are also Miele) - I gave my kitchen maker a real headache with these, as I was very specific about not wanting handles, and this was his concern, that the seal would be tight and would cause problems to open..... Its recessed behind the cover panel, so when you put your hand in the vertical recess to open it, it goes in a wee bit so there is enough room to get your hand right in there to open it. You are welcome to take any ideas you like - thats what the forum is here for!! Just glad to be able to help!!!! Re: Recessed / Flush mounted induction cooktop? 15Oct 04, 2010 6:30 pm Thanks yet again Moogles. It's taken me about 2 months, and i've just realised why I can't get that seemless look you have going no matter what I do with my kitchen.... you don't have a visible rangehood! Can't believe it took me so long to notice. I thought maybe you just had more room than what we do, but then I hunted down your plans and it didn't appear so (although I didn't blow them up to size so possibly i'm wrong). I don't suppose you want to look at my kitchen plans and tell me what you would do with them, lol. I just love your kitchen so much. Although we will probably go with a wood grain, which I know you don't like. I do love the dark gloss (we were looking at doing it in espresso), but the designer advised against it because it will be facing the sun and show 10 times more marks than if it were in a low light area. Hmmm anyway.... could you please tell me what you've done with rangehood??? Re: Recessed / Flush mounted induction cooktop? 16Oct 04, 2010 7:47 pm Hi Mrs Green, I've sent you a PM.... The unit normally clips into a metal plate screwed to the wall, either plate is not flush, or unit not hooked in and could be hanging from the pipes partly, either might… 2 15791 Okay, then the choice is really about the build quality of the door itself which means the brand name.
