Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Sep 24, 2010 11:10 am Hi Guys, I'm currently looking at kitchen appliances and I've settled on a Schweigen rangehood (mmmmmm quite) and one of 2 Bosch ovens, but I'd like some advice on a cooktop. I'm after 5-6 burner gas cooktop but I'm having trouble finding one I like. I've seen some new style cooktops with a ceramic top with gas burners. My concern with these is that it appears that the trivets just sit on top and aren't really held in place by anything. Does anyone have one of these? I'd like some real world feed back. I had a look in the stores but didn't spend a lot of time going over them. Any help is very appreciated. Thanks Chris Re: Ceramic + Gas cooktops - anyone got one?? 3Sep 24, 2010 4:23 pm Bosch (70cm 5 burner) and Neff (90cm 5 burner) have ceramic gas cooktops and their trivets are held by some pins on the back rail and their flat trivets cover almost the entire cooktops (except on Neff the wok burner is sitting by itself on the left) and you can slide you pans around easily. Some other brands have more gaps between each trivet and you can't drag your pans around. Re: Ceramic + Gas cooktops - anyone got one?? 4Sep 27, 2010 1:26 am we have a 3 burner highland, it is fantastic. it has two trivets held in place around the edge which is stainless steel. Highland have 5/6 burner units as well. (they are huge!! and pretty exy, but gorgeous). Highly recommended, as the ceramic is so easy to clean, and also matches well with our oven which is stainless and black glass. induction is very popular as well, however my DH is a chef and prefers gas. he is very impressed with the low simmer and high wok output of the highland. Even though I haven't got it yet I have read some good reviews of it and the high output and two wok burners on the six burner look fantastic. Leni, thanks for your opinion, we just paid the final installment for our stove the other day and it is always good to hear reassuring good news. Chris, we are pairing our Highland stove with a Schweigen range hood. I am so looking forward to peace whilst cooking. Has anyone got any experiences with the Schweigen? The only complaint that I have heard so far is that it is so powerful that it pull all of the heat out of a house.... (still on the 'to do' list, funny how if you had to move out of your house while renovating, all those jobs hang around for ages once you are back because you are just so happy to be back in your own house, the paining, skirting boards and ducting etc don't seem as important any more!)
