Thanks!

Re: 1x900mm or 2x600mm ovens 2Aug 15, 2010 12:10 pm Hi and welcome. We built with PD and had the choice of a 900mm semi commercial or sep 900mm hot plates and two 600mm built in ovens. We chose the two ovens for a number of reasons. We didn't want to be heating a big oven unnecessarily when only cooking a tray of fish fingers for kid's lunch etc. And also for big bake days.... can have two ovens going at different temps rather than having to wait for one to cool/heat up. It works for how we live, but if we were regularly cooking for 8 or 10 people, we may have made a different decision. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I can say that the 600 is a lot better oven than the 900, especially for cake and pastry cooking. The 900 had hot and cold spots, took a long time to heat up and I think dried out the food more. If you can do the 2 600s that is the way I would go. Re: 1x900mm or 2x600mm ovens 5Aug 15, 2010 9:11 pm depends if you need the length of a 900... but the latest is 2x600.. I went with a 900 because I need the length Building a new home.. paranoid about colour selections.. - Slab Poured December 2009 - painted, tiled, plumbing installed, shower installed, kitchen installed... Re: 1x900mm or 2x600mm ovens 6Aug 16, 2010 2:26 pm If I had a choice it would be 2 x600 for me - as stated, quicker to warm a 600 for small items. When you want to bake 2 things at once e.g. Roast cooking and you want to cook dessert often they are at different temps so you can have both going at once. 900 takes approx 15-20 mins to get to desired temperature, so it's probably cheaper to run the 2 x 600. At 900 was wider than we needed for most things so we'd be heating wasted space. It would also take longer to heat. We went with 2x 600 ovens. 1 higher speced than the other so we'll use 1 as a main oven and the other for the less messy stuff. Re: 1x900mm or 2x600mm ovens 9Aug 17, 2010 1:26 pm Have to agree with the 2x 600mm - same as all the above reasons, but mostly to be able to do two different types of cooking at the same time... Re: 1x900mm or 2x600mm ovens 10Aug 17, 2010 8:23 pm Hello to everyone that replied, Thank you so much for all of your wonderful replies, I will email our sales consultant and see if it is possible for me to get 2x600mm ovens. Really appreciate all the advice, I'm sure I'll be asking for more in the next few months Re: 1x900mm or 2x600mm ovens 11Aug 20, 2010 10:58 am I would also go 600mm at eye height not floor height.Go for a European brand as they are very good at appliances for small spaces. Does the average family really need 2 ovens?? How much do people with a second oven actually use it? I got a really good oven (AEG) which has large internal space and no hot spots. As it cooks evenly you can have it full, with three or 4 levels of cooking. Mine is actually only 580mm wide. I cook a lot, baking as well as large things like lasagna etc. and I have found 1 totally sufficient Re: 1x900mm or 2x600mm ovens 12Aug 20, 2010 11:06 am tjilpi Does the average family really need 2 ovens?? How much do people with a second oven actually use it? Three people live at my house and we have used both ovens quite a few times, we've been in 8 months. At Christmas it was a god send to have two. I've cooked big batches of meals and frozen them and it was super then. And when doing a big bake of cakes, biscuits, slices, etc, it has cut down kitchen time considerably to have different temps going at the same time. Not a necessity, but I love having two. Being only two of us at the moment i use the small oven more often. It heats up qicker. I can see in the future there may be a need to have two different things in the oven at once. Re: 1x900mm or 2x600mm ovens 14Aug 20, 2010 4:41 pm Have to say I also have on numerous occasions used both my ovens (in my one month of being in my new place) - often want to grill and bake things at the same time, so in this manner is invaluable... Re: 1x900mm or 2x600mm ovens 15Aug 21, 2010 8:46 am I am considering the two ovens option as well. I can't justify the massive price tag of a one piece 120 wide. Does anyone have any pictures of two separate ovens side by side in a completed kitchen. I'm just wondering how it will look. Do you know if there is a way of somehow connecting the two so they appear more as one unit and cover the slope/join where the two units would be connected? Thanks Clair Re: 1x900mm or 2x600mm ovens 16Sep 19, 2010 9:48 am Wow!! Just found this thread by accident and it has helped me out heaps, this would be a great way for me to go. Ohhhh I'm so excited now, DH would be happy as he mentioned the option of going the 2 ovens and I said nah not really. Just one question though! We only have single phase power will this effect having 2 ovens running at the same time and say the A/C or other things running as well? A large 90cm oven below the 90cm cooktop, and a compact 60cm in the wall (it will be the same size as the coffee machine and integrated microwave. Very big price tag for our 90cm but as hubby put it 'me love cookies' Re: 1x900mm or 2x600mm ovens 20Oct 04, 2010 7:13 pm Got to love that logic that says people need two ovens so you don't "waste energy" by heating up one that's a bit large.
