Hi
I was wondering if anyone had used Omega appliances in their kitchens.
My builder uses these at standard, and I was thinking of upgrading to Smeg / Meile, but did not want to fork out too many extra $$$$.
Thanks

From memory I think Omega and Smeg are part of the same company. Re: Omega Appliances 3Aug 10, 2010 1:21 pm Have recently installed an Omega wall oven model OO910XA. Works perfectly, has all the features one could ever want although a rotisserie function is not included but then we didn't want that anyway. Would appear to be quite well built and has a lot of components common with SMEG. I also like the slide out trays and as a 900mm wide oven the cavity is large which is different to quite a few other wide ovens where the oven is wide but the cavity isn't. Not sure why one would want to pay a whole lot more for some of the other brands. Happy to recommend it. Re: Omega Appliances 4Aug 10, 2010 1:30 pm This is handy because my builders are putting in an Omega oven, rangehood and dishwasher for me I wasn't sure how good/bad that brand was Re: Omega Appliances 5Aug 10, 2010 6:36 pm We will have all Omega appliances (oven, gas cooktop, rangehood & dishwasher) in our house once it's finished. We have the kitchen installed atm but none of the appliances. i'll let you know how they go when we move in! plan,block,contract:8-9/2009 Land settle & FHOG$:15/2/2010 Site start:19/5 Slab:4/6 Frames&Trusses:11/6 Roof,windows:24/6 Bricks:1-5/7 Gyprock:14-16/7 Kitchen!,garage door:5/8 Driveway,verandah,tank:2/9 Paint:17-23/9 Tiles!!:15-20/10 Kitchen&bathroom appliances,blinds:22/10 Carpet:8/11My blog: http://buildingbug.blogspot.com Re: Omega Appliances 6Aug 10, 2010 11:13 pm We have Omega appliances in our current rental and they are horrendous (I think they look about 5 years old). The oven is noisy and the electric cooktop is just terrible and takes forever to heat up. Once heated up number 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 on the dial all equal 'cook my dinner until it is burnt'. Awesome. I have no idea where Omega fits on the price scale? Renovation Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38489 Re: Omega Appliances 7Aug 10, 2010 11:14 pm Oh and the front left cooker is all cracked and split. Renovation Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38489 Re: Omega Appliances 8Aug 12, 2010 10:21 pm Omega & Smeg are both made by the same company. We have gone for an Omega rangehood, but it's still not installed, so sorry can't comment based on experience. We've had Smeg appliances in a rental property previously and I can't say I was a huge fan, but they did the job. We've gone with an Omega rangehood because we want an undermount and the choices in the market are limited for these. Omega had the best specs for the price we got it for. Fingers crossed it's as good as it reads on paper! |
