I'm needing to get used to an older style gas oven with a "Gasmark" dial and I found a conversion in the piccie below. So my questions are: - is the table below relatively accurate - any issues I should be aware of in translating successful electric recipes to gas ones (I'm reasonable comfortable with slow cook stuff...it's the upper end I'm more worried about) - should I even bother and just by a decent oven thermometer and rely on that ...any other tips on the "transition"... Hence i'd do that addition, then convert to gasmark (assuming its not fan forced). Looking at your table it lines up with the one my fiancee's parents have for their oven. Also just need to allow more time for it to pre-heat being gas vs electric. Having said that, our biggest problem was we found that the heat convected differently in the gas oven than in an electric which made frequent turning of, say, a cake a must, as the old gas oven definitely had some "cool spots".
