Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances Re: GLEM Freestanding Stove - Anyone got one? 8Mar 22, 2011 1:18 pm ![]() I'm looking at this package too, question is what exactly is that model stove? When I look at the Glem site there is no such model, their dual fuels Bienergy selects are in the Monolithic range - all have ML prefix?? So the one i was looking at was the Glem ML96GGESI2 while HN is selling a Glem DI965GGEI2? If you look at the cookers they are different, three buttons on the left side of the HN unit are not on the Glem ML, and the plate at the rear of the burners has no cutouts... curious? The rangehood is a standard Glem though - CK90-U. Anyone know whether this cooker is an old model or what the story is? Our cooke is an ILVE and when I put the model number from the display home cooker into Google, it comes up with the ILVE website and as a Harvey Normal Exclusive model... but when I search for it on the ILVE website, it doesn't exist! Could the GLEM DI model number be a HN exclusive? Re: GLEM Freestanding Stove - Anyone got one? 9Mar 22, 2011 8:41 pm Yes, you are dead right. Further investigation found that the so called Glem was actually more Emilia than Glem, DIxxx models are in the Emilia range. Both are from the same factory, just one with lower specifications than the other. I find this HN specific build frustrating as all the online info you gather is useless with specific models you buy from HN. I have negotiated a decent price on the cooker i was initially interested in, which IS a Bienergy from the Monolithic range on the Glem site, and will probably stick with that. Its like comparing apples to oranges.. Regarding the Ilve, yes i noticed that too as i was initially interested in getting an Ilve combo. The HN stuff is predominantly JCxxx models, with a few Txxx models (Titanium) included, they don't actively try to sell the P models (like the P90WMP) - rather their JC lower spec models. I guess its all about margins, but as a buyer i like to know what the track history of products is, especially a long term purchase like an oven, and read Choice and review sites. If its a HN badged product you have buckleys of finding a meaningful review - case in point the pseudo Glem/Emilia stove. Re: GLEM Freestanding Stove - Anyone got one? 10Apr 16, 2011 9:10 pm I've been researching the Glem ML and the Harvey Norman Glem DL package deal and YES there are differences. The Glem ML96GGESI is the 'real' Glem with a price to match $5,300, but a newer model (or newer release - ML96GGESI-2) has just come onto the market for RRP $4k but you can negotiate it down to mid to low 3's. The HN 'Glem' DL is an exclusive to HN model only. It's RRP is about $3,400 but you can negotiate it to less than 3. The package price ($2999) for the HN Glem DL and rangehood is a deal (the rangehood is the same for both stoves RRP $1k, can get it online for $650, can negotiate it to about $500). But the crux is you get what you pay for! The HN Glem is a lower spec oven with several features taken off it from the ML model to get it into a lower price bracket. Differences I've found are: - digital clock, ML has fully programmable touch control clock - one less electric oven function ('Light') - smooth hob panel, ML has grooved hob panel - solid back panel on hob, ML has air vents in panel - lower spec steel front plate on front of hob, ML has a much chunkier look - legs, ML has 'waterfall style' full panel sides to the floor The ovens are both bienergy (gas and electric) and inside both look the same. If you look at the ovens side by side (which is difficult to do as HN only stock their Glem and no-one else stocks the HN Glem) - the HN Glem definitely looks like the cheaper oven. So what to do ??? In the end we've just bought the real Glem ML96GGESI at an auction house for $2k (rapt!) as I wasn't convinced about the quality of the HN Glem. I'll post again when we get it installed to give feedback on how it performs! I hope this helps. ![]() Re: GLEM Freestanding Stove - Anyone got one? 12Mar 02, 2020 2:29 pm Apologies to the online world.... I forgot totally about this thread 8 years ago lol. For anybody interested in the performance/reliability of the 'real' GLEM dual fuel ovens, as opposed to the HN etc variant, we purchased an ML96GGESI2 in 2011, which makes it 9 going on 10 years old. In short - it has been excellent. There were a few reasons we went with this over the Ilve units, firstly price/value for money, secondly the documented Ilve oven fault history, with issues such as 'clock stopped working disabling the oven'. The Glem has no reliance on logic from the clock to operate, the clock is simply a timer - as it should be. In terms of usage we have been most impressed with this unit. The gas cooktop has been great, all the burners are still operating as new, running from LPG BTW. We both, particularly MrsCurly, do a lot of baking, and for that purpose the electric fan forced oven has been brilliant, and reliable. I should say mostly as the only flaw I have found in this product is the oven door seal, and obviously Glem found it was lacking too as they changed the design. Ours came with a rubber seal, attached with press studs - which eventually split at the base (after flopping for a while). The replacement was a simple order, delivery, and 10 minute replacement. It is now a bonded fibreglass seal, which retrofits fine. That has been all that was required to keep this running for the past 9 years, no spontaneous window shattering, no fan failures - nothing really to report, cant ask for much more than that. BTW - The other positive is after all this time i look at the Glem offerings, and they appear practically identical in design to our oven, so spare parts should not be an issue if required. Exempt development if the house is existing. If it’s a new build it’s likely not an issue either but always call council to confirm. They’re usually very helpful. 3 23990 I’ve seen acrylic garage doors on a few houses around here, and they do look sleek, but I can’t imagine choosing them myself. Here in Phoenix, the heat can get… 4 15985 Do it. It dosnt cost much and just makes life easy. You won’t regret it. 2 18284 |
