Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances Re: GLEM Freestanding Stove - Anyone got one? 12Mar 02, 2020 2:29 pm Apologies to the online world.... I forgot totally about this thread 8 years ago lol. For anybody interested in the performance/reliability of the 'real' GLEM dual fuel ovens, as opposed to the HN etc variant, we purchased an ML96GGESI2 in 2011, which makes it 9 going on 10 years old. In short - it has been excellent. There were a few reasons we went with this over the Ilve units, firstly price/value for money, secondly the documented Ilve oven fault history, with issues such as 'clock stopped working disabling the oven'. The Glem has no reliance on logic from the clock to operate, the clock is simply a timer - as it should be. In terms of usage we have been most impressed with this unit. The gas cooktop has been great, all the burners are still operating as new, running from LPG BTW. We both, particularly MrsCurly, do a lot of baking, and for that purpose the electric fan forced oven has been brilliant, and reliable. I should say mostly as the only flaw I have found in this product is the oven door seal, and obviously Glem found it was lacking too as they changed the design. Ours came with a rubber seal, attached with press studs - which eventually split at the base (after flopping for a while). The replacement was a simple order, delivery, and 10 minute replacement. It is now a bonded fibreglass seal, which retrofits fine. That has been all that was required to keep this running for the past 9 years, no spontaneous window shattering, no fan failures - nothing really to report, cant ask for much more than that. BTW - The other positive is after all this time i look at the Glem offerings, and they appear practically identical in design to our oven, so spare parts should not be an issue if required. If so what were the "special circumstances" under which it was granted?
