Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Jul 04, 2010 6:04 pm The range hood is considered an appliance and will be installed only after the settlement. As an upgrade I chose an external vent (through the roof to the outside) for it. This vent is not installed yet I house is close to final inspection) and my SS tells me it would be done with the range hood. I am in doubts as I believe the guy who does the installation may not be the one who is supposed to do that work. I assumed this would have been done before the handover, so the technician who installs the range hood would just connect to that pipe. Can anybody tell me from experience who is/was supposed to do the external vent installation? Thanks, Chris Re: External venting for rangehood, when done? 2Jul 04, 2010 7:29 pm Our builder advised that the venting through the roof, for the rangehood is supposed to be done before handover as it is part of the tender, not an appliance. I guess this could vary with different builders though. Have you checked through your all your contract documentation yet for any clues? It is part of the initial contract (and not an item I chose at a later date at a gallery tour). I was surprised to learn what builders call appliances (which would be installed only once the house is under my responsibility). Even my solar hot water system, gas heating system and water tanks are according to my builder appliances which will be installed after handover. On hand I can understand him as regularly theft happens in unoccupied almost finished houses. On the other hand I don't like the idea to pay the last payment (no payment->no settlement) and having an unfinished house. My concern is that the person who installs the range hood is an electrician who is not prepared to run pipes through the roof tiles. Thanks, Chris I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15284 I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 17063 Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built. Also have a… 3 11648 |
