Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Jun 29, 2010 9:31 pm We have been doing a lot of research about kitchen appliances. Shops are recommending Westinghouse ovens and cooktops as an affordable and reliable option. Is there anyone who is happy with their Westinghouse appliances? We are worried about the negative reviews we have read, but we feel that the price is more in line with our budget. Have also considered Bosch. Would love to hear all your thoughts. Thanks. Re: Are Westinghouse appliances OK?? 2Jun 29, 2010 9:35 pm Hi Tall6 When we built nearly 10 yrs ago we installed Westinghouse cooktop, oven and range hood and also got a fridge and dishwasher from the westinghouse range, and to date the only thing that has gone wrong was the dishwasher needed a new element and that was a year ago. I personally Love Westinghouse. Hope this helps Regards Vonwoman McQueen Mansion in Progress Proud owner of dirt Plans Completed Currently trying to sell our current house Re: Are Westinghouse appliances OK?? 3Jun 30, 2010 8:45 am I think Westinghouse has a pretty good name for it's appliances. If you are worried. maybe see if extended warranties are available. But I think they would be a pretty good option. Bosch are also generally a good option, especially for their dishwashers but obviously a fair bit more expensive. Re: Are Westinghouse appliances OK?? 5Jun 30, 2010 1:06 pm We've had a westinghouse fridge and freezer for 10 years. Only replaced something once in the freezer, but other than that - all good! My mum and grandparents have always owned W'house fridges, and both replaced theirs last year after more than 25 odd years.... ...geez I hope I haven't jinxed myself My house and my rants.... - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26937 We are in!!!...and still unpacking. Thankfully there are always Tim Tams Re: Are Westinghouse appliances OK?? 7Jul 01, 2010 5:50 pm I've bought a double Westinghouse oven, can't wait to use it, just waiting for the house to get finished!!! My decision was based on good reviews from people I know who have Westinghouse appliances, and also the internal cavity of their ovens are bigger than most others. I compared every 60cm wall oven I could find and Westinghouse came out tops in terms of being able to fit my bakeware and cookware in. Re: Are Westinghouse appliances OK?? 8Jul 01, 2010 5:58 pm I'd always thought Westinghouse was ok, but double check where the items are manufactured (some items are just cheap imports from o/s with a Westinghouse sticker). We have a Westinghouse Oven, cook-top, and range hood, all of which are only about 12months old. So far the little red light on the cook-top that shows when the appliance is hot/on has broken (not a major issue I know) - but the big issue is small rust spots appears on the edge of the metal around the glass in the oven door... very disappointing considering it's meant to be 'stainless steel'. Re: Are Westinghouse appliances OK?? 9Mar 20, 2011 4:53 pm can i just jump onto this thread? are people still happy with their westinghouse? I've got one that is 15 years old, have been pretty happy with it and so with a new kitchen install was looking at getting the w'house double oven - mainly because we grill heaps - but i'd read some reviews about the inner glass shattering for lots of people, so wondering if anyone has some feedback on this? thanks! Re: Are Westinghouse appliances OK?? 10Mar 20, 2011 6:18 pm Hi Kel, we have a Westinghouse oven with separate grill, gas cooktop, and pull out rangehood. I'm delighted with the oven and cooktop. The rangehood is noisy but so are most pull out rangehoods. All my appliances have been a wonderful surprise as I wasn't expecting to be thrilled with them. Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: Are Westinghouse appliances OK?? 11Mar 20, 2011 6:22 pm I'm looking to get a Westinghouse upright freezer because of the interior set up. All the other brands have all drawers but the Westhse has a mix of drawers & shelves, more convenient I think. Re: Are Westinghouse appliances OK?? 12Mar 20, 2011 7:41 pm We purchased a Westinghouse stainless steel fridge and it's been fantastic, looks snazzy too - no problems. We're going with a Westinghouse gas cooktop and electric oven in the new build as well. We've still got our Westinghouse pigeon pair fridge/freezer as well ... only complaint is they look a bit 'old fashioned' compared to other brands, but not complaints with reliability. Very happy with them. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Are Westinghouse appliances OK?? 14Apr 11, 2024 11:25 am Tall6 We have been doing a lot of research about kitchen appliances. Our honest view Westinghouse WEV617DSC oven with airfryer, purchased in 2020. We've used Westinghouse for over three decades, but with this one the fan quickly developed a slight rattle, but was told it's normal and not a fault, now less than four years old and about six months it ago began to trip the circuit breaker at around 170 degrees. We've had the house wiring and circuit breakers professionally inspected by licenced electricians and the fault is in the oven and now no warranty. Obviously the retailer (HN) said we could buy a new one or try consumer affairs and the Westinghouse woman on the phone had a 'too bad don't care' attitude and was even a bit abrupt. Pathetic for what we consider an expensive product!! So we won't buy anything associated with Westinghouse or buy from that retailer any more. Customers have a right to expect much better quality especially on main appliances. |
