Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 May 27, 2010 10:05 am Hi, Our cooktop goes directly inside the roof. So the smoke stays in the roof. Sometime we can smell the cooking ordor from the bed room vent. How hard it will be to poke a hole in the roof tiles and vent this properly? Anyone know how much it will cost if I ask someone to do it? Thanks, Re: Cooktop air vent installation 2May 28, 2010 2:22 pm Who was the idiot that vented the rangehood into the roof in the first place? It will cost a couple hundred that is my estimate, someone needs to buy the ducting and the vent, then install. Re: Cooktop air vent installation 3May 28, 2010 2:28 pm this is an interesting topic. I was told originally that if the range hood is good and filters odours properly outside venting is not required. I spoke to my plumber and he said I dont need to. Anyway he seems to have been right because i cant spell anything when I go into the ceiling. Re: Cooktop air vent installation 4May 28, 2010 2:31 pm borg this is an interesting topic. Surely there would be some sort of residue or build up of at least moisture that comes from the vents? Weird. What rangehood do you have tomking? Re: Cooktop air vent installation 6May 28, 2010 3:45 pm Considering that it is illegal to vent a rangehood into the roof cavity in Queensland I would suggest that moisture is at least a concern for SOME people...and to me it is just common sense to vent ALL forms of extraction to the atmosphere. Re: Cooktop air vent installation 8Jul 05, 2010 1:38 pm Guys, I will go up to the roof and take some photos to show in sometime, only if I am not too lazy to carry the ladder inside and climb up...hope next week... Re: Cooktop air vent installation 9Jul 12, 2010 3:07 pm I thought it was Law here in Victoria at least that the vents have to extend to the outside of the building. reasons I would suspect is to prevent any fires inside the building??? Can anyone confirm if they legally have to be vented to outside? How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents? And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 5936 My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
