Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 May 24, 2010 7:02 pm OK...I own up. I am VERY neglectful about cleaning my gas wall oven. It is only about 2 yrs old, but has had too many roast dinners cooked in it. The ecco friendly combination of soda bicarb & vinegar has not even made a dent in it. I checked out the cost of using the 'Oven Fairy' & was quoted $180. Any one have any extra heavy duty cleaning solutions? TIA HH Life's too short too drink bad wine Re: Cleaning Your Oven 2May 24, 2010 9:23 pm I get one of those oven cleaning people to come in when it gets too bad!!!! Worth the money. Watch out in your local paper for specials! Re: Cleaning Your Oven 3May 25, 2010 8:58 pm Take the racks out and put them in a garbage bag with some household ammonia, tie it up tightly and leave it outside overnight (in case any fumes manage to escape), then hose them off the next day. If anything's left on them, it'll come off easily with hot water/detergent and a scourer. For the oven itself, just use Mr Muscle (or a similar product). Leave it for the maximum recommended time and wear heavy duty gloves to wipe it off. A piece of advice with oven cleaners: Read the instructions first.... Re: Cleaning Your Oven 4Aug 08, 2010 7:50 pm yep KayandAndy is right... We use ovenu and they are great!! For a $135ish they clean the oven in places we don't dare go. They remove the door, the racks.fan and light cover and clean and put it all back together and it looks brand new. It does take 2 to 3 hours but the best thing is their stuff is 'green' and you don't need a gas mask... Plus you can use the oven straight away, I will never clean my oven again!!! Re: Cleaning Your Oven 5Aug 09, 2010 8:59 am This place is amazing. I have never heard of professional oven cleaners! I am always wary about the chemicals in the oven cleaner can, but it does clean so I was resigned to using it. Might have to check out the professionals next time as we do a lot of roasts so it takes its toll. Re: Cleaning Your Oven 6Sep 16, 2010 9:50 pm I just had my oven professionally cleaned (it's the only perk of a bad back!). Had my rangehood, cooktop and BBQ done too as we are selling up. Absolutely phenomenal job. It looks brand new - even DH is impressed. The glass is spotless - everything is spotless! I can't bear to use it...looks to good. I'm very very happy to recommend the particular company I used. They were fabulous - PM me for details. My house and my rants.... - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26937 We are in!!!...and still unpacking. I don't worry about the rest. Just turn it up high for a while and that will make it clean-ish. We have a new build and need to clean bricks around a newly constructed deck.
