Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 May 12, 2010 10:18 pm Hi, I am planning a new kitchen and doesnt look like Im going to have room for a 900mm cooktop so am considering a 700 or 750mm cooktop. I have seen some but would like to know if anyone else has one and what they have chosen. Also what sized/ style of ranghood you have chosen to match it. Some have 5 burners and the burners are quite close together making me think that I wont be able to fit 2 big pots on at the same time. I have seen one with 4 burners which seems quite good. Any advice is appreciated Re: Does anyone have a 700 / 750mm cooktop? 2May 13, 2010 8:20 am We don't have one yet but the one we are having for our next house has 4 burners with a wok burner in the middle. Therefore separating the 4 burners and will be able to put big pots/pans on at least 2 burners at a time. It is a 700mm Technika cooktop. That's the brand the builder uses. Good luck with your choice. A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. I don't have more than two burners going at any one time so find the 600 adequate....and after looking at the abey website it would seem my particular model has been discontinued and replaced with an 860 model Re: Does anyone have a 700 / 750mm cooktop? 5May 14, 2010 5:02 pm yeah Technika do a couple. One in there Bellisimo range which is the more affordable and they also do a really nice one in the Technika brand.... good luck Re: Does anyone have a 700 / 750mm cooktop? 6May 14, 2010 7:12 pm Whether it will work or not depends on what/how you cook and how the burners are configured. We find even 900mm cooktops impossible to use if the wok burner is in the middle - you just can't fit a decent pan on any of the other burners to cook rice, at least not if you want the gas flame centred. I'd imagine it's more of an issue with narrower cooktops. We usually have a minimum of two pots (one of them is usually a wok), and frequently use three burners at once. Which is why we went for a model with the wok burner to one side, at the front. That meant getting one with a central fish burner, which we never use, but oh well.... Sometimes it's still a squeeze. You could always take your pots and pans into a showroom and test out how they fit. My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
