Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Apr 09, 2010 9:14 am we are doing total kitchen renovation ( and House) in Melbourne (east Brighton) I would love any advice on appliances we are thinking of going with Smeg 90cm upright cooker but also like the look of the ascot and grand cuisine miele or the fisher/paykel drawer dishwasher and no idea which ranghood to go for Any other renovating/planning tips greatly appreciated ************* First time renovator VIC Re: advice on upright cookers smeg/ascot or grand cuisine 2Apr 09, 2010 10:00 am I deal with Smeg on a daily basis (I work for a large national builder) and I can tell you that we have not had one go wrong in the last 3 years. Also, the company is excellent to deal with. Always there when you need them for advice/service. They also own Omega and the service turnaround on them is 48hours. Better than most!!! I would also suggest avoid the fisher & paykel dish drawer. Extremely difficult to service and they have a reputation of poor after sales service. I experienced a lot of headaches at another company a few years back getting them to repair their product. Still, they may have improved recently. Forget about their ticketed prices you will do much better than that. You will also do much better than Smeg. This is basically a builders pack brand nowadays. Expensive for what it is. I wouldn't go with the Dish Drawer, only hear bad stuff about them and we tried our not too large dinner plates in one and was nowhere near close to fitting. I think Bosch and Asko are better options for dishwasher. Rangehood, the advice we got was universal, Qasair make the best. Re: advice on upright cookers smeg/ascot or grand cuisine 5Apr 14, 2010 8:34 pm Thank you all for your advice I think we wil go for Miele dishwasher and Qasair rangehood still lost on upright cooker as Im in love with the look of the smeg ( sorry to take this long to reply still working out this site!)
