Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances Re: dishwasher 2Apr 03, 2010 8:42 pm I would think so but I'm not a plumber. So don't take my word for it. Re: dishwasher 5Apr 04, 2010 10:39 am Quote: why was I being told by salesman that the dishwasher needs to be on the right of the drainage? Ask him. I install dishwashers quite frequently and there is no right or left hand side that they need to be installed on. Can you imagine manufacturers having to make a left hand and right hand dishwasher? That aint going to happen. Nor are kitchen installers going to fit them specifically on one side. The hoses are attached to the unit usually on the left hand side lower rear where there is a recess to accommodate the hose connections As someone else wrote, they can even be installed remote from the drainage and water supply, using hose extenders to extend the existing hoses. Basically, what you need to look for is the unit will fit into the existing space you have. So measure the width and height and go from there. You obviously need a supply point and a drainage point. All 50mm traps have a connection stud on them for the drainage and if you have an old isolating valve ask your plumber to replace it with an " arco" mini washing machine tap. Re: dishwasher 6Apr 04, 2010 10:43 am Hi, It should be possible on either side. The inlet and drainage hoses normally are attached at the back, on the lower edge of the unit. The length of them will dictate how far away you can get, and the limiting factor is usually the drainage, as the unit will have some maximum distance it can pump out. Ask to see the dishwasher handbook or installation leaflet if the salesperson says different. Cheers Re: dishwasher 8Apr 04, 2010 2:26 pm jagguy The cupboards either side of the sink is 50cm long. Do you mean that the cupboard to the side of the sink is 50 cm wide? There are slim dishwashers available that would fit this space. I saw them in a kitchen place once and thought that they would be great for a unit or one person. The Omega one for example is 45cm wide. We will have all the provisions there, or do you still need someone to come out and install it? Dear J.K. Rowling, Your books are entirely unrealistic. I mean, a ginger kid with two friends?
