Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Mar 16, 2010 5:58 pm Just wondering if anyone out there has the Asko D5131 dishwasher?? Do you like it - would you recommend it - would you buy it again?? Any other recommendations of a good dishwasher up to about the $1500 mark? Thanks! Re: Asko D5131 (Stainless Steel) - comments please? 3Mar 18, 2010 12:12 pm We put Asko dishwashers in our two previous kitchens and they were fantastic. My only complaint is that plastics do not dry perfectly on the top rack but I don't know that any dishwasher is fantastic at that. I would not buy another brand. Re: Asko D5131 (Stainless Steel) - comments please? 4Mar 18, 2010 12:14 pm my parents have an asko, not sure of the model but I have lived in their house with it and loved it. I have a Miele, can't remember the model either but love it also. would buy either brand again. Re: Asko D5131 (Stainless Steel) - comments please? 5Mar 23, 2010 2:41 pm We just bought a D5132, and it's fantastic. I've never had a dishwasher before (!), and heard lots of stories about having to rinse dishes first or they don't come out clean. But I put dishes in, un-rinsed, even leave them overnight before turning the machine on, and they still come out spotless. It even cleans off egg stuck on the plate (and left overnight). It doesn't fully dry things on the top shelf that have a reasonably flat bottom (I have some coffee mugs that need the base dried each time). Apart from that, I love it and would recommend it. Quite a few friends told us to only look at Asko or Miele. If we're put on this earth to help others, what are the others here for? Re: Asko D5131 (Stainless Steel) - comments please? 6Mar 23, 2010 3:11 pm We just bought a D5132 SS XXL over the weekend at the asko warehouse sale. Purchased as an ex-display only fault is the plastic handle on the bottom basket is missing. Got it with extended manufacturer warranty out to 5 years. Can't comment on how good it is, as we don't have the house built to put it in yet. But we spent a fair wack of time researching these, we pretty much came down to asko, bosch and miele. We didn't like the cutlery tray vs cutlery basket of the top bosch and it also turned us off the integrated asko's. Miele we decided was outside our price range with little discounting available. Only thing else to consider is that Asko is currently releasing a new model range. More revision than revolution from what we saw, so clearence bargins are the way to go. That said we still about $500 over the best deal we could find retail. Which is why we jumped at it. Other thing to consider is we heard that Asko is moving to an agent based sales system like miele, so rather than selling stock to retail sellers, instead the retail sellers will just act as agents on behalf of asko. Ie you pay for it at the store then they pass your details to asko to arrange stock, delivery, install etc. The reseller never actually handles the physical stock. So you probably will have more bargining power on the outgoing models than any of the new. We have decided to go with the Asko D5131 (Stainless Steel). We were tossing up on a similar priced Bosch, but I really didn't like the cutlery drawer (although I know some people love it!), and much preferred to have a cutlery basket. The sales lady couldn't speak highly enough of the Asko, and it looks good, is supposed to be super quiet and supposed to wash fantastically. We are still happy that we decided on the Asko though, so hopefully it lives up to expectations! Good luck.
