Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Jan 14, 2010 8:47 am I am building new house and really want to get the oven right as i have suffered with a poor one for so long. Went to Harvey norman and checked them all out and was pretty sure i was going to go with the fisher and paykel double oven , then have a read a few bad reveiws, and Miele is the way to go but considering i need the lot, cooktop, range hood , and double oven , its a bit expensive . Was just wondering would it be possible to get a miele for the top oven and fisher and pykel for the bottom oven, I know it wont look as good but im more concered about performance. Or should i go two bottom of the range melie ovens or the high end of the fisher and paykel. Im sooo confused about this , hope someone has some wise advice for me. Re: Double ovens 2Jan 14, 2010 9:36 am You can mix and match a Fisher paykel and a Miele oven as long as you're happy with the look, but if it's in a very dominant position in an open plan kitchen then you may be better off with two ovens of a same brand. Personally i would rather go for two basic miele ovens as i think their quality is very good and if you want to sell your property later, miele seems to give your potential buyers a better impression. Or you can even look at other brands like bosch or Neff, still german made and of good quality. You can get a basic Neff oven for $1499 with a 4 yr warranty and free telescopic rails this month. Re: Double ovens 3Jan 14, 2010 9:48 am you may want to consider electrolux eline models. I got a good buy the the 1 and a half ovens. plus induction cook top and a top end range hood for around $5k miele are good i know but to get the miele with all the featrres you need to go med to top end, which off course is more expensive than the basic meiele. Re: Double ovens 4Jan 14, 2010 11:32 am We're looking at the electrolux too. Just make sure you check the volume of the meile, some are a lot smaller internally than the the Fisher and Paykel or Electrolux. Bosch isn't too bad. 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Double ovens 5Jan 14, 2010 2:18 pm Thanks for the advice, Bosch is a good option i probably didnt consider, now that you say it , I will go with the same as its a focus point of the kitchen, I have a budget of around 7K , so maybe i can save on other areas and splash out on the ovens Re: Double ovens 6Jan 14, 2010 3:48 pm We have purchased the Bosch 1 & 1/2 oven - got it for $2800 - that was the best we could get here (Ncle). Don't know how it performs because it isn't in yet. The electrolux is cheaper and slightly bigger, but I didn't like the telescopic racks. The F&P we found too small - we took some baking trays to the shops and couldn't fit them in a F&P - may have just been the model they had there. Check the internal measurements - don't rely on what they say the litreage is. The Bosch seemed like a good unit, and it has a good reputation. Good luck. Re: Double ovens 7Jan 14, 2010 8:28 pm It may pay you to subscribe to the Choice magazine website. They did a full test of double ovens recently. Electrolux, the "W" brands and Bosch were the best. F&P was the absolute bottom. I'm planning on the Bosch as they have many innovative features, yet you can get them discounted, unlike Miele (which I regard as the same quality level as Bosch). I had Bosch last house I built & was thrilled by them. http://www.choice.com.au Re: Double ovens 8Jan 15, 2010 10:36 pm We have purchased Delonghi one and half oven. I can't comment on its performance yet as it only got installed today and our house doesn't hand over for about a month. However in saying that, I had a 90cm Delonghi oven at my old house (purchased in 2007) and my mum installed similar one in her new house and we've been really happy with them. We purchased all Delonghi products - 1 1/2 oven (the electronic control one DE602EPS), 90cm gas cooktop and 90cm glass rangehood for $4365 Re: Double ovens 9Jan 18, 2010 6:21 pm a MASSIVE tip for you, that i ALWAYS seem to come across with home owners not choosing their oven cooktops untill the last minute.. make sure your current wiring can handle what you are planning to install.. if your new oven or cooktop draws 15 amps or more i can guarentee you will need a new electrical feed back to your switchboard.. good luck Electrical - Automation - Smart wiring - New homes - Commercial - Data cabling] 1300 050 315 www.cenemelectrical.com.au www.facebook.com/cenemelectrical Re: Double ovens 11Jan 19, 2010 8:44 am Consider Omega. They are a sister brand of Smeg but are made in the same place. Best quality in the lower price range. Got no deal but a free baking dish. Hope i dont regret it , as i havent really heard anything bad about this oven. Funny how it all turns out when you put a mans persective in it. Re: Double ovens 13Jan 24, 2010 10:11 pm I know of someone who does a lot of cooking and are quite happy with Ilve. They have a wide selection of cooktop/ovens.
