Any recommendations for good rangehood which is quiet and will work for a lot of stir fries and asian food.
Robinhood and Fisher and paykel have been suggested. Although they didn't get such a great review in Choice Oct '08.

You can also check the noise levels (all the way to the max level) for each of the brands you're looking at. Re. the power - get the highest extraction power you can afford. I think at least 800 m3/hr. Good luck! My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Rangehood choice 5Oct 30, 2009 4:15 pm There is also the Qasair brand which we have. It is very quiet but we only have one motor. For heavy duty stir fries you can get a twin motor. Re: Rangehood choice 6Nov 01, 2009 8:54 pm I got an Xpel 90cm glass canopy rangehood at a Harvey Norman carpark sale yesterday for$600. Its basically identical to the shwengen model i was going to buy, the motor and ducting kit is same as used in shwengen. Tried it out assembled on the ground and its some suction, noisy motor though glad it'l be outside. Also picked up a miele 90cm gas cooktop for $1200 down from 2k rrp. I was all set to get a Qasair rangehood for our new house but went to a kitchen appliance store this AM and was told they are not very well built. The salesman suggested this undercupboard SMEG rangehood which was able to suck up an oven tray (he showed me in the showroom!). The other recommendation was that of an ILVE rangehood. I know a few of you have mention QASAIR and SCHWEIGEN rangehoods but this salesman try to talk me out of it. Are the SMEG and ILVE really better? I also do a lot of stir-fries and want a quiet and powerful rangehood. Re: Rangehood choice 8Nov 02, 2009 1:51 pm SYD-YYZ all set to get a Qasair rangehood ... and was told they are not very well built. That'd be the first in a long time I've ever heard anyone knock Qasair for their quality, I'd say he was trying to scare you into a sale (which is a good enough reason not to buy with them at all if that's the tactics they need to try and push their own product) Re: Rangehood choice 9Nov 02, 2009 2:48 pm Thudd SYD-YYZ all set to get a Qasair rangehood ... and was told they are not very well built. This store do sell QASAIR rangehoods too but not a large range. He said "They are not very well put together." Re: Rangehood choice 11Nov 02, 2009 4:51 pm Well, I can only tell you that our Qasair rangehood is made perfectly. It is very quiet and it copes with a 1.2m long gas cooktop. I must admit though, I haven't tried to get it to suck up an oven tray. Just as well I never installed the Smeg rangehood as my pots are light and there would be mayhem in the Neverfinished house. |
