Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Sep 01, 2009 9:27 pm Hi there, I have now spent the best part of 3 hours online trying to find what rules/regulations are in place to govern the positioning of free-standing ovens in the kitchen. I currently rent a house which has a free-standing oven located right next to a doorway so basically its an accident waiting to happen! Anyone walking through the doorway has a very good chance of catching their elbows on any pots on the cooktop and also we have 2 children under three years old who can not only reach the front two rings on the hob but also the rear left. The landlord is adamant that there is nothing in place to prevent the oven being situated there but i just cannot believe that to be true! I located some building regulations online but they cannot just be downloaded they have to be purchased! Any advice on what regs I could throw at the stingy landlord would be greatly apprecaited! Thanks Re: Freestanding ovens, safety and positioning 2Sep 01, 2009 9:32 pm Can't comment on the actual regulations pertaining to this, but it does sound not only stupid but dangerous. Hope you get some answers and pressure the LL into relocating it. Cheers. Hi everyone. I am a single mother with little daughter, living in a small tourist town in WA Australia.
