Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Aug 20, 2009 10:40 am We're provided with a Technika Dishwasher (TBD4), 900mm Slideout Rangehood (SL101901) and Bellissimo 900mm Upright Cooker (B9GEFTSS) with our house, to be built in Feb. We're thinking of upgrading given that we've read a lot of negative reviews of Technika products. What brands do people recommend for these appliances? What are considered excellent brands and excellent quality? Which are quiet? Any help is appreciated Life is; then you tell yourself a story. Re: 900mm Upright Cookers - Which Brand??? 2Aug 20, 2009 5:05 pm It kind of depends on your budget and what features you are exactly after in an oven- what functions would you use and what style of cooking you do. If you are looking for a federation style upright cooker you can't go past the Falcon ovens, but if you're looking for something more modern Smeg are great quality ovens If you're looking for a silent rangehood that is great quality look at schweigen or qasair- but once again, when looking at rangehood think about the style of cooking you do- if you do a lot of cooktop cooking, especially with a wok it is more about extraction rates which schweigen and qasair are both great. Lisa- Finally in our house!!! Re: 900mm Upright Cookers - Which Brand??? 3Aug 20, 2009 6:53 pm We've got an Omega 900mm cooker. It's one of the few I've seen that is actually large enough inside to put two baking dishes side by side. I found that a lot of the 900mm ovens looked large but as soon you looked inside there was about as much room as you would have in a conventional 600mm oven. Re: 900mm Upright Cookers - Which Brand??? 4Aug 21, 2009 9:54 am Thanks for the replies. We've decided now to keep the Technika Bellissimo appliances as they are part of an upgrade that includes stone benchtops, carpet, tiles etc. We can't get credit for the appliances because they're in a package. So we'll keep them and replace them once they need replacing. Would prefer better quality but need the funds for other things atm. Life is; then you tell yourself a story. Re: 900mm Upright Cookers - Which Brand??? 5Aug 27, 2009 10:20 pm As I mentioned in a previous post, we have had Technika in our current home for the past 6 years and never ever a prblem and this includes the Dishwasher, Wall Oven, Gas Cooktop and Rangehood........will get the same deal with Carlisle..... Signed with Carlisle - Atlantique 36Mk2 altered & upsized Botanic Ridge Estate - Build started 22nd Oct 2010 Re: 900mm Upright Cookers - Which Brand??? 6Aug 28, 2009 12:07 am We found an ILVE at a discount price of more than 30% off (it was floor stock that had to be moved for a new store fit-out). Were about to settle on a SMEG after looking at a number of models. Re: 900mm Upright Cookers - Which Brand??? 7Aug 28, 2009 11:38 am In February 2009 Choice Magazine did a test on 900mm dual fuel upright/freestanding oven. The Baumatic BAF9003 came up as their first choice. RRP is $4199. We ended up going with this oven too, but got it for around $3700 from Rick Hart. (We bought quite a few big appiances at the same time). Rick Hart will store them until you are ready for them at no extra charge. I really liked the ease of pulling out the trays, just glided and seemed to be really well made. The ovens Choice tested were; Baumatic BAF9003 Blanco BFS95WFF # Ilve Titanium T90WMP Westinghouse DSK963S Whirlpool ACG900IX Smeg Professional Series SA9065XS# The Westinghouse was their 2nd choice. Which you can buy for under $2000 Re: 900mm Upright Cookers - Which Brand??? 8Aug 29, 2009 10:45 am Just heard on tv that E&S trading are having a huge sale on. They were advertising all the kitchen appliances including freestanding ovens. Re: 900mm Upright Cookers - Which Brand??? 10Sep 01, 2009 12:20 pm We were offered 900mm built in stove .We wanted to upgrade it to standalone model. The builder’s quotation for upgrade was so expensive we could purchase a brand new separate unit for that price. Upgrading is an area you have to consider seriously to avoid budget blow out. Re: 900mm Upright Cookers - Which Brand??? 11Nov 12, 2009 11:28 am I have recently purchased a 900 mm Ariston stand alone cooker ,but the manual does not indicate how wide the gap in the benchtop should be.I was thinking 910 mm would be good ,allowing 5 mm either side for the heat and easy fit but my concern is that dirt will fall in this gap .Not sure if I should go for tight fit?
