Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Jul 30, 2009 12:42 pm Hi All. I'm looking for some advice/opinions on which is the bext pyrolytic oven? We have a Delonghi now (which i must admit cleans great) but we have had other problems with it, and with our other Delonghi appliances so have decided to steer clear from them this time round. Originally we were going to get a double oven (one stacked ontop of the other all in one) but they dont have the pyrolytic feature, which is one of the priorities for me So now we are going to get 2 60cm units - we were looking that the Miele oven but for the 2 it would be well over 10k (Donit get me wrong if they are the best one out there i dont mind paying the money for quailty) But interested in anyone's thoughts on the other brands? Thanks so much in Advance Re: Who makes the best Pyroltic Oven?? 3Jul 30, 2009 3:31 pm Have you checked out Smeg? I thought I saw on the website when ordering ours that they had those types of ovens. Re: Who makes the best Pyroltic Oven?? 4Jul 30, 2009 3:42 pm We bought a Bosch pyrolytic oven a couple of months or so back....love the oven - don't have any complaints at all, but haven't used the pyro function yet Re: Who makes the best Pyroltic Oven?? 6Aug 03, 2009 12:16 am We're going with two Miele ovens; one pyrolitic 60cm and one combi-oven 60cm. BuildingACT We're going with two Miele ovens; one pyrolitic 60cm and one combi-oven 60cm. Looked around a fair bit and couldn't be happier making the "investment" HI Building ACT - can i asked why in the end you chose Miele? We have been leaning towards Miele..but wondering if there was another brand that might be better value for money... Hibiscus We have a De Dietrich pyrolytic double oven. First clean smelt all smokey/chemically and we thought it would do it every time but haven't smelt anything since that first use. Hi Hibiscus...when you say double oven is it like a 90cm or 2 60cm on top of each other? does it have a good range of functions? Thanks everyone for all your replies! Hi Inspired...I read that post too. I can't say that I've had that problem. In fact, I've been very pleased with how mine's cooked so far. I've done some chocolate cakes, a lemon syrup cake that is quite heavy anyway, profiteroles, roast, vegs, pavola ..that I can think of at the moment (I know I've done other stuff too that I can't think of) and couldn't fault how any of them cooked - the pav was one of the best I've ever cooked. Ok, I'm not a gourmet cook by any standards, and my old oven was an old bottom element Simpson, so this is a rolls royce in comparison, but but I am very impressed with the Bosch oven. A lady at our church also has a Bosch and I know she bakes a lot and she's really happy with hers...that's what helped me decide to go with Bosch too. Edit: the only thing I have to watch is the temp and cooking times because I'm not used to having a fan forced (or assisted or whatever) oven. I'm finding I have to keep the temp down just a little to what I used to and that things seem to cook just a little quicker...but that's me, not the oven Re: Who makes the best Pyroltic Oven?? 11Aug 03, 2009 7:19 am Inspired HI Building ACT - can i asked why in the end you chose Miele? We have been leaning towards Miele..but wondering if there was another brand that might be better value for money... Hi Inspired The overall performance of the Miele ovens, along with their other appliances made our mind up quite easily. At the end of the, we are going with their fridge/freezers, ovens, cooktop and dishwasher - basically all kitchen appliances other than our downdraft extraction hood are Miele. This was also better in term of accessing Miele's discounts! The Miele agents here are also very very good in terms of supporting Miele and just generally in post sales support. My parents have had a Miele cooktop, oven and microwave for over 30years and never had a problem...we made the decision to buy Miele because we never plan on selling this house we're building and will hopefully never need to buy a new oven, etc again! I have no doubt there are other very good ovens around, which are possible 'better value' and in some cases, probably perform even better, but for us, Miele won hands down! Easy to use, outstanding performance and built to last forever! Hope that helps Re: Who makes the best Pyroltic Oven?? 12Aug 03, 2009 7:27 am No, I have never been lucky enough to have such a great oven. So have never used one before. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Who makes the best Pyroltic Oven?? 13Aug 08, 2009 10:30 pm For all those with pyrolitic ovens- I'm totally sold on them but my husband thinks there would always be grime that doesnt burn off so its just a waste of money. Has anyone ever used the Pyro function on a dirty oven and if so was there any cleaning required afterwards? I'm thinking of getting the blanco one as the miele or bosch, cant remember which looked very small inside. Will be dragging hubby out shopping to have another look at appliances tomorrow. Re: Who makes the best Pyroltic Oven?? 16Sep 24, 2009 2:28 pm Basically when the oven is dirty you turn it up to a massively high temp, the oven normally locks itself at this stage and it burns off any particles inside. They turn to ash and you then wipe it clean once it cools down. Probably over simplified but this is it in a nutshell. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Who makes the best Pyroltic Oven?? 17Sep 24, 2009 3:02 pm Not all surfaces may be pyrolitic - usually the side and back panels are, but the bottom might not be, and if there's a top element used for grilling and/or browning, then the top surface won't be either. When we renovated our old kitchen, we had a Westinghouse wall oven that was absolutely brilliant. We looked at all the ultra-expensive brands, but they were way outside our budget, and the thing that sold me on this particular oven was that the separate griller was on TOP of the oven, not the other (stupid) way around. The other thing I liked was its looks - it was sooooo sexy. All glass doors, no metal frames at all. I didn't even know what a pyrolitic thingummy was, but I soon learned that they're the bee's knees. After roasting, we'd turn it to 200C (that's all it required, so not massively hot) and the sides and back would be spotless. A quick wipe of the nice smooth bottom surface and that was done too. The door glass was still a bugger, but you can't have everything. We didn't have to remove any racks or anything either.... It was actually called a double oven - I suppose because both sections could be used as either griller or oven - but only the larger bottom one was fan-forced. Not sure they still make that model. Re: Who makes the best Pyroltic Oven?? 19Sep 24, 2009 4:39 pm borg hey kek, are you sure your not by any chance refering to an oven with catylatic liners??? What your are describing sounds more like that. Mmm, possibly ....told you I didn't know what that thingummy was when we got it. Still did the same thing though, no? Burned off all the crap? It's not like I can check now.... Re: Who makes the best Pyroltic Oven?? 20Sep 24, 2009 5:05 pm It sounds brilliant, but it doesn't seem to be environmentally friendly - it seems to use up a lot of electricity. I'll have to look further into it as we'll be renovating our kitchen soon. Hi Chippy, no there isn't, gave it a really good look through and literally opened everything and checked all edges as well.
