Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Jun 18, 2009 12:12 am OK the next of many things I have to decide is what oven I get. I went to the Miele showroom and of course left wanting Miele but a guy in a store today said Neff is really good and that they are better than Miele for consistency between shelves. I haven't heard of them and the Choice top-end oven review from 2 years ago didn't even test one. Are they relatively new to Australia?? I prefer the flat trays to the Miele trays as I bake lots of mini quiches for my 2 year old and find that this type of tray with a tilt at the front (I have in my rental) makes me spill stuff putting them in. You get 15% off the Neff oven and a free telescopic tray/rail if you buy before June 30th (clearing stock before their new range but I can't wait for that). So makes the 2999 model 2549. Does anyone have a Neff oven or know whether they are as good as Miele? I am attending a Neff demo on Fri which will help but of course their advice will be biased!!! I am not made of money but I can afford a Neff or Miele if they are worth it. Any advice would be appreciated..... Re: Sorry another oven thread.....any experience with Neff? 2Jun 18, 2009 4:42 am Hi Janie...I recently went through the same process...and nearly bought a Neff (the one with hydroclean - not the one you are looking at, I think)...but ended up with a Bosch (pyrolytic one), which so far, I am very happy with - I've only had it a couple of weeks. I believe the Neff is also a very good oven (and there are some folk on this forum who have one), but the price for the Bosch was negotiable and I could get it for much less than the Neff I was looking at. And the fact that the racks in the Bosch were much more stable and didn't pull right out easily like they do in the Neff, therefore less likely to have a nasty accident, threw me to Bosch. I'm talking normal racks, not with the telescopic rails. I got the telescopic rails practically thrown in for my Bosch but I haven't used them yet. I think the Neff ones may actually pull out a little further. The reason I haven't bothered with them is that, in another showroom, on another brand of oven, the salesman pointed out to me how fiddly it is to get a baking dish back onto the rails if you remove the dish to turn the roast etc. If you happen to bump one of the rails it will move and won't be lined up with the other and when you have a hot baking dish you are trying to get back onto the rails, that could be a problem. Having said that, he also pointed out that the idea is to do whatever you need to do with the dish still sitting on the rails and to not remove it at all. As I said, I haven't used my telescopic rails yet so can't comment from experience myself - just going by what I was told I guess you could also just sit the baking dish on a wire rack that was attached to the rails. Anyway, good luck with your purchase Re: Sorry another oven thread.....any experience with Neff? 3Jun 19, 2009 8:21 pm Thanks for your advice! The baking tray that comes with the oven fits easily onto the rails with the Neff and you don't need to take the roast out to baste it, or take a tray out to turn things as it comes out so far, one of the reasons I am tempted by it. One is standard with the oven and this deal gets another thrown in free and they glide so smoothly and come so far out I doubt I will use the standard racks ) Glad you're happy with yours. It's probably just a marketing difference but I just wish they were as well known as Miele for me to feel confident. Re: Sorry another oven thread.....any experience with Neff? 4Jun 19, 2009 9:27 pm I just bought two Neff ovens with the promotion, a 900mm cooktop and the 30cm warming draw. I am also considering their combi/microwave oven. Have yet to install my kitchen to give a full review but I researched heaps and feel confident in my purchase. Re: Sorry another oven thread.....any experience with Neff? 5Jun 20, 2009 7:24 am Janie, yes, the Neff telescopic rails to come out a long way and I did like that about them. Just remember, not all the rails will be telecopic (if I remember correctly - I might be wrong) and there may be times that you will need to us the wire racks on the higher up rails...just check what you think about them. Not saying at all that you shouldn't buy the Neff (I'm still quite impressed with them) but just something for you to check before you buy.
