Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 May 27, 2009 10:15 am Hi..I just discovered this forum recently and there is a wealth of information here We are looking at getting a new oven and wondered if anyone has a Neff and what they think of it...well, more what the after sales backup service is like, if anyone has had need of it. I believe the ovens are very good but we are a bit concerned about the service if we needed any repairs done. They have a good deal on their basic one at the moment, not pyrolitic, and still deciding if I can live with that, or go for a more expensive one. Any opions would be welcome, either on Neff, or another brand. Thanks Re: Need New Oven 2May 27, 2009 11:16 am If you want middle of the road. Personally, I prefer de Deitrich over Miele when it comes to German products, find out who is the parent company of Neff and where are they assembled. Eg, Liebherr make Miele etc. I don't think Bosch is put together in Germany anymore. Homework and cooking schools which show you how they cook the food and how it tastes. Homework and cooking schools which show you how they cook the food and how it tastes. i think that is true for some Bosch products. I know that my recently purchased dishwasher was made in Germany...but new ones are apparently made in Asia somewhere. My new oven - AFAIK- is made in Germany too (maybe I should check ). I have heard good things about Neff but...yikes...the cost! Re: Need New Oven 4May 27, 2009 2:38 pm We looked at a Neff oven, and were very nearly convinced. One salesman told us all about the steam-cleaning thing (HydroClean or something), and that with that, we wouldn't need the expensive pyrolytic option. We then went to a specialist kitchen store, and the guy there said the water cleaning thing only works properly if you use it and wipe out your oven EVERY TIME YOU USE IT!! Yeah, as if. We've ended up going for a Siemans pyrolytic. A similar priced brand to the Neff (and I think made by the same people who make Bosch?), we just thought ot had better features and I really wanted the telescopic rails. http://www.siemensappliances.com.au/con ... ent_id=472 If we're put on this earth to help others, what are the others here for? Re: Need New Oven 5May 28, 2009 2:25 pm Thanks for the replies...I guess at this stage we are still tossing up between a Neff or a Bosch...and apparently Neff is a subsidiary of Bosch...and are made in Germany. I had a phone call from a guy at Sampford IXL yesterday, following an email to them, and he informed me of that. I suppose we will do a lot more trekking yet before we decide...sigh...I never thought buying a new oven would be so daunting...lol Re: Need New Oven 6May 28, 2009 4:19 pm Choice's oven round-ups are always worth a look. I find the owner's comments page to be a good combination to use with the actual roundup. Re: Need New Oven 7May 28, 2009 10:35 pm miss_ticky2 Any opions would be welcome, either on Neff, or another brand. We have just purchased a NEFF B1624. Like Miele they do not provide discounts. All sales done via Sampford IXL. We chose the NEFF because of quality and it has one of the highest internal capacities and width of the 60cm (The Westinghouse Boss was similar) . The ergonomics of the pivoting handle was cute. The rail guides are easily removed and the smooth lines of the interior surface make it look easy to clean. The controls on the oven are fairly easy to drive (my engineering friend thought it was more intuitive than his parent's Miele). I got an extra telescopic rail which enables full extension without the baking tray tipping over. The oven has been obviously designed with some thought. I thought the idea of a multi-function oven was initially a bit of a gimmick. However, my wife was quite impressed by the roast chicken she turned out the other day. Evenly cooked and crispiest skin ever. We did a Shepherd's pie the other night and switching to grill mode at the end of cooking very rapidly browned the top. Apparently you don't need to pre-warm the oven because of the way the element works. I cannot comment on durability or service but the quality is apparent when you inspect the product and compare it to cheaper brands. Re: Need New Oven 8May 29, 2009 7:39 am Hi again...Dymonite...sounds like your wife is enjoying her new oven. I think we were looking at the model below the one you got. We went looking again last night and have pretty much decided on the Bosch pyrolitic model at this stage. We still like the Neff, but were impressed with the Bosch as well. What swung us was, the price is negotiable so we can get it for much less than the Neff. I think they are retailed around the same price as the Neff we were looking at, but being able to negotiate the price suits our budget much better as we are already going over what we originally hoped to spend (doesn't that always happen when you start looking?..lol). And the racks are quite sturdy on the rails and do stop without being pulled right out of the rails and they don't seem to tilt much at all when pulled out, whereas I found that the Neff racks pulled right out of the rails easily, unless you went for telescopic rails. I love the idea of telescopic rails and would have gone that way, but it's extra expense and with the Bosch rails and racks being fairly sturdy I decided that I would be quite happy to stick with those. But I also love how the individual side rails just clip off the Neff too and can go in the dishwasher. But we had to decide what we could and couldn't live without, and what we could afford, so, negotiable price and not having to spend extra on telescopic rails help swing it for us. It's funny because Bosch wasn't even on the radar of what we wanted to look at until I found out that a lady at church, who renovated her kitchen a couple of years ago, put in Bosch appliances and is very happy with her oven and I know she does a lot of cooking. So, I guess Bosch it's going to be...just have to go and buy it before I change my mind again...lol Re: Need New Oven 9May 30, 2009 6:40 pm We narrowed it down to the Bosch and Nef as well and are going Nef. We have a 9 year old Nef (that came with the house we live in) and it works a treat. Buttons are still solid (not wobbly) - which is one of things that bug me with old appliances - All the best on your choice ! * Are we there yet ? I have chosen that pyro thingo in the Electrolux range. Hope I did the right thing. I reckon fo rthe price it should walk and talk and give my husband cooking lessons. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Need New Oven 11May 31, 2009 5:27 am We haven't gone and bought our oven yet...probably a mistake as I'm now having doubts floating around in my head so want to go and have one final look...lol. I know I'll probably still get the Bosch, but the Neff is still appealing. I just need to confirm in my head again why I was going to go Bosch....and now Siemens is coming into the picture too...lol. I just need to bite the bullet and go buy the oven and be done with it..lol. Hi Steveo...which model Neff are you going for? Hi Themax...I have always had a separate grill too but I believe you can still grill your cheese on toast by just using the grill tray and top grilling element in the oven. Hi MissTicky2, Before our current Nef (and in previous house), we had a 90cm Oven which we selected so we can cook a range of dishes at the one time - thats how the sales pitch went. I just couldn't manage the temperature control when cooking differnt meals so this time we are going for 2 x 60CM Nefs, we had selected the B4462N0 and the B1544N0, however Clive Peters called us yesterday saying there is model changes - so back to the shop next week ! How about yourself, which Bosch and Nef do you like ? The ovens are not out of date it was actualy the Nef Range hood * Are we there yet ? Hi Steveo We were looking at the Bosch HBN731551A and the Neff B1544NO...must admit, we didn't look at the Neff B4462NO...maybe we passed it by because of the price, but might go back and look at it again, just to make sure. We're going to look at the Siemens (similar to Bosch I think) before we decide Re: Need New Oven 14Jun 01, 2009 8:54 am Would be interested in your views on the Siemens when you get a look. * Are we there yet ? Hubby is picking it up this afternoon....can't wait to have it up and running Looked at the Siemens, which is pretty much a copy of the Bosch to look at (or is it the other way around?). Think they're made by the same people anyway. Liked the 5 year warranty...didn't like how the different functions are actually printed on the knob and not on the face plate around the knob (that's just my preference)...and definitely didn't like the $1000+ extra price tag. Didn't really look any closer than that at the Siemens as it was waaaayy out of our price range. The lady at the store offered a very good price (I thought), on the Bosch, plus a set of racks with 2 telescopic rails for an extra $20. I wasn't going to bother about getting telescopic rails as the rails and racks in the Bosch seem quite stable, but for $20 it doesn't matter if I like them or not, I'll give them a go. Thank you to everyone who offered their comments...it's been really good to get different peoples thoughts. Re: Need New Oven 16Jun 01, 2009 4:12 pm Don't know if I should have started a new thread but decided to use this one as it's to do with the same oven Ok, got the oven home...hubby holds an electrical licence so he can do all the electrical connections himself. My question now is...seeing the oven is a pyrolytic one, I'm concerned about the extra heat inside the cabinet where it's going. We have a wall oven and intend to just pull that out and fit the new one in (there's plenty of width and height). The instruction manual tells you that "fitted units must be heat resistant up to 90°C and adjacent unit fronts up to at least 70°C." Is that too hot for my existing cabinet? The house is around 20 years old and the cabinets are the white melamine type of finish inside with laminex (or similar) doors. Do we need to line the cavity with some heat resistant material...and if so, what? The instruction manual isn't real explicit on this. It does show where the oven needs air flow around it and a ventilation gap at the back of the cabinet (hope the cabinet has one or there's going to have to be some modifications done...lol). Just wondering, those of you who have had pyrolytic ovens fitted, (or know how they're fitted) what was done with the interior of the wall oven space (I guess underbench would be the same). Goodness, don't want to burn the house down first time I decide to clean my oven Thanks Re: Need New Oven 17Jun 01, 2009 10:07 pm miss_ticky2 seeing the oven is a pyrolytic one, I'm concerned about the extra heat inside the cabinet Isn't it great how retailers are so forthcoming with this information before you purchase the product? A kitchen company probably could tell you what they do as standard. Re: Need New Oven 18Jun 09, 2009 1:56 pm Well, the oven is in and working and does cook a nice cake. Haven't done anything else yet...lol After looking around on other forums and internet, we ended up just installing it into the existing cabinet. We had much more room around it than the minimum required as per the installation instructions and felt quite comfortable in the end doing that. Thanks for all the input from everyone Re: Need New Oven 20Jun 27, 2009 8:47 am becdoll Does anyone know if the new range of Neff ovens are out yet? I thought they were not being released until August? If so how do the features and price compare to the current range? Hi Becdoll, just got this update from Clive Peters on the Neff. "The new model ovens will have more blackened door , and will be at the approximate same price. The new rangehoods will have some change of style and will have both a cheaper & dearer model available .The induction cooktop range will have a 60cm - 4 burner 70cm - 4 burner 90cm - 5 burner There will be no 80cm induction cooktop in the new Neff range ." * Are we there yet ?
