Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 May 26, 2009 7:23 pm Trying to finalise my kitchen layout and all that is left is to lock in the appliances. I can get a good deal on Technika items through a builder and was going to get the 900mm Dual Fuel Upright (Model GHEO9PSS) and matching 900mm canopy then build the cabinetry around it so you just saw the front 70mm panel. But I keep getting talked out of using the Technika gear. Places like good guys/clive peeters seem to come from the angle that its builder spec, low budget but I don't see how that makes it a bad product. Also had 2 kitchen places say not to use it but couldn't give me a reason so I suspect they were pushing their preferred brands. But it has been enough to put doubts in my head and now I really don't know. I have since changed the rangehood to a Bosch slide out. I was originally against doing a slide out as most of them seemed pretty weak on extraction but the Bosch rivals most canopys (price to match too) plus the lighting and design is good. Bonus is it will look really good in the kitchen layout. http://www.boschappliances.com.au/conte ... gory_id=82 That leaves the upright. Do I stick with the technika product or look elsewhere? I did look at a Blanco which was great but doesn't have removable legs and I want the unit to be built into the kitchen. One item that has been suggested to me is the following DeLonghi upright. It RRP's at over $4k but was offered below $3k which puts it in the budget. The features and build looked good, plus the S/S finish seemed to totally resist fingerprints and marking compared to the Technika & Blancos I'd looked at previously. http://www.delonghi.com.au/products/pro ... l=DE906GWF But all these things seem the same to me, so I need some help and I'd rather be shopping for a new TV anyway!:) Re: Opinion/Reviews: DeLonghi vs. Technika 900mm Uprights? 2Jun 03, 2009 6:05 pm I was wondering how you went with this as I'm having the same problem. Technika comes with the house and I can upgrade to the upright model for way less than the brand that I was looking at Deposits paid 29/4/09 Land settlement 12/08/09 Build contract signed 24/08/09 Colours done 28/09/09 BLOG-http://www.eljaysbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Opinion/Reviews: DeLonghi vs. Technika 900mm Uprights? 3Jun 03, 2009 7:23 pm Eljay I was wondering how you went with this as I'm having the same problem. Haven't really got anywhere to be honest. Every time I talk to someone I get given another option to the point where I'm over it. Not very helpful I know Re: Opinion/Reviews: DeLonghi vs. Technika 900mm Uprights? 4Jun 03, 2009 7:34 pm oh you poor bugger i'm starting to feel the same. I think I'm just going to go the cheaper option right now and get the technika one from the builder and then maybe in 2 years save up and get the one i really really want. I can spend the extra money on nicer tiles or something. I wonder if it's with the installation or normal with this brand. Everything else is great though. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Opinion/Reviews: DeLonghi vs. Technika 900mm Uprights? 6Jun 06, 2009 11:58 pm I am sort of in the same situation as you. We originally were having Nobel but now that they have gone broke, our builder was going to replace with Technika. I have been doing some research and visiting lots of stores and they all say the same thing - "don't buy it". Cheap and nasty - Chinese made and have lots of problems. I have also been told that the hotplate knobs break, the oven handle falls off etc and it is apparently very hard to get anyone to come out and fix it if it needs it. I have found that most suggested (not including your really expensive brands - the brands that you know are good i.e. Smeg, DeLonghi, Bosch etc) are Omega, Electrolux, Westinghouse/Chef. I still haven't made a decision yet, but am leaning towards Omega. Also had someone suggest "Andi" today which are sold through Rick Hart. Hope this helps! Re: Opinion/Reviews: DeLonghi vs. Technika 900mm Uprights? 7Jun 07, 2009 12:16 am I have been now considering Lofra. Found them at the good guys and the 'curve' model looks really nice. GG's had them for $3100 and with the refund from builder I think that would leave me only $1500 to pay instead of the 3100 which is better Anyone has any feedback on Lofra? They told me I had prestart the week before my appointment so I didn't have time to research all I needed too! Oh well, can't change it now! I'll let you know what falls off it! My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Opinion/Reviews: DeLonghi vs. Technika 900mm Uprights? 11Jun 07, 2009 1:08 pm borg delonghi is far superior to Technika. I cant believe you even need to think about this one. Because prior to building this house, my cooking experience has been limited to a BBQ and toaster. That will change once I move in though! They all seemed the same to me, so what I was getting at was is there a noticeable difference in quality for the price and is it justified? The only household appliances I can say that I know from experience are Bosch (Dishwashers and Washing machines both of which will be purchased) but their only 900mm upright which seemed good at first has 6 burners (no fish burner) so using a griddle plate won't work and its a smaller capacity oven. The DeLonghi is anywhere from 1000-1500 more than the Technika depending on what price you get, so in the grand scheme of things its not a budget breaker. Just don't like that it seems in Vic only Harvey Norman and Clive Peeters sell them. But I'll most likely purchase it and see how it goes... Re: Opinion/Reviews: DeLonghi vs. Technika 900mm Uprights? 15Aug 12, 2009 3:22 pm Hi dave, how is the Delonghi going? Are you happy with it? I am about to purchase 1 but can only find 1 review on the web and it was terrible, I would really appreciate any comments you may have. Re: Opinion/Reviews: DeLonghi vs. Technika 900mm Uprights? 16Aug 12, 2009 7:38 pm I was faced with this dilemma last week. We decided to go with Delonghi over Technika. Here is the thread for anyone interested. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=21637 Re: Opinion/Reviews: DeLonghi vs. Technika 900mm Uprights? 19Aug 13, 2009 2:23 pm smuller I have just purchased the Delonghi Oven, Splash back and Rangehood for $3500 from Clive Peters. Which Clive Peeters? The one near me has it advertised for $3799. Did you just screw them down that much?
