Browse Forums Kitchen Appliances 1 Sep 12, 2024 5:26 pm Hi, I'm a renter who broke his oven's glass door by leaving the broiler on high for too long (I forgot to turn it off). Anyway, the repair company that the landlord sent out replaced the door, but couldn't get the handle off of the old one (apparently oven doors don't come with handles). He said he'd have to go check for another part, then they'd get back to me. They can't find a handle, so they can only recommend I replace the oven. The whole-ass oven because the handle broke. Granted it's only a few hundred more than just fixing the door, but it still seems excessive. I don't remember the type of oven it is but I measured the holes and they're ~415mm apart. Landlord basically said as long as the oven is fixed, she's non-plussed. Does anyone know where to buy oven parts? Is replacing the whole thing my only option? Why doesn't the owner claim it on their Landlord's Insurance? Depends what the excess is. Sometimes the excess is more than the cost of a new oven.
