We bought one to replace our old $500 Westinghouse after it rusted out after 10 years use. We got it for $1300 on special. It's very quiet but simply doesn't do the job. Not nearly as good as the old cheapy Westinghouse. Ongoing issues with the dishes not coming clean, not being dry, strange marks left on plasticware and the Bosch helpline is about as useful as the proverbial **** on a bull. I've no doubt it's better made than the Westinghouse and will last longer than 10 years but I can see the council rubbish collection in its short term future. Re: Appliances for a New House Build - AEG or Bosch? 3Aug 13, 2021 12:19 pm Go on Amazon EU/USA, Complex Kitchens or o/s retailers website & you'll see AEG in Australia are way, way overpriced. It would be wrong to think that any brand is best across a whole range of products. Do your research on a particular model no. Eg; Bosch have a cooktop that has good reviews & a similar unit that has very poor reviews. I'd go the Bosch (Siemens, Neff). Also worth considering Ilve (2+3 warranty - like all the high end Italian brands). I'd consider anything with a 5 year warranty, because that's as long as most modern kitchen appliances last. Refer to the 'induction cooktops' topic which as a lot of posts. Definately don't go Miele - forget the hype, they just aren't durable, so not worth the exorbitant price premium. Products have decent specs, but when they break down they charge a motzer to do any repair. Eg; $1500 to repair a 4 y/o power board. I've had Miele washer, oven & 4 induction cooktops. Never again. No matter how many of their products you buy, their first goal is to extract as much coin from you as possible - Danke shoen!!. Prime suspects are always people on the job. Many times I had lunch with them, shared a joke, paid their wages or contract price, knew name of their kids and then they… 20 23480 ![]() I'm currently building a new house and have arranged with the builder to supply my own appliances.
