Some pics of the house. Eventually the sunroom on the existing house will be opened back up and become a balcony again. I hate the house colours (well mainly the red/orange) it was like this when we bought the place so all that will change as well. We just ordered a stained front door and we were going to go with a white garage door. What do you think? Any ideas appreciated. We really want a beachy feel for it and also to look classy and not become out dated. Cant wait till i can do the main kitchen. But that is stage 2 and will be quite a while I would say. Re: Kitchen / Bathroom Colour Help Please!! 24Oct 06, 2008 11:53 am Congratulations for doing the old place up and not knocking it down!
Looks like a fun project! My first husband & I did a reno on an old place similar to yours when we first got married. I can say for a long time there wasn’t many free weekends. But it was worth it in the end. Good luck with the reno, keep posting photos, we love them!!!! Yes it will be a lot of work, actually finding out now more work than we first thought. Everyone in the area were keen to hear that we were keeping the existing so thats encouraging. So your reno ended up looking good? What are your thoughts on a white garage door? We wanted beige for the boards and blue trimmings and were originally going to have an ocean blue front door but were not sure how this would look and if it would cheapen in. But yes, the little house went under quite a few renos. What colour CB roof have you used? We were thinking of keeping the front door stained like the windows out front? Do you think this will look ok with a white garage door? Hope you are feeling well today I went to pick the tiles today! I have gone for a very similar colour to what you suggested for the floor tiles throughout. (maybe very slightly darker) White splashbacks in the bathroom and slade brickface tumbler as a feature. In the kitchen i went for white splasbacks also with a feature of mosaics in the same colour as the floor tile.... Im just unsure about white splash backs in the kitchen? Would this be ok..? Also if anyone else has any comments? Re: Kitchen / Bathroom Colour Help Please!! 37Oct 07, 2008 4:46 pm Also for the feature tiles for the bathrooms and kitchen , where would you think the best place to put the feature would be?
Or if anyone else has ideas? Re: Kitchen / Bathroom Colour Help Please!! 38Oct 07, 2008 5:11 pm I think the white splashbacks with the Mineral Harmony will look good!
Especially if you have chosen a colour in the glass feature tile to tie the floor and benchtops together. With your beach theme you are trying to achieve a light and bright, plus airy environment in your home. I think you are doing really well!! Mineral Harmony Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Your feature tile depends on how much wall tiles you are doing, to the ceiling or half way, or less in the bathroom. I always like to see a feature over the cook top, between the overhead range if you are having one. Again it depends how much space there will be, sometimes there is very little along the sink if there is a window there, so it’s a waste putting them there. It really depends on the space you have. I just looked at your plans, they don’t tell me too much about what’s happening in the kitchen…overheads not shown if you are having any. Bathrooms, well I’m getting a bit over the strip down the shower, but up to you if you want to go this way and a strip of about 3 or 4 at the top of your splashback on your sink, between the mirror. How about 2 strips running horizontal in the shower at equal distance from each other. Have a good look at your plans, and give thought to what you will see on entry the both rooms, bathroom and kitchen, that should help you decide. Thanks I think it will look light, bright & airy (fingers crossed!) Just got to check with the builder today exactly how much will be tiled and if the feature tiles i have picked are ok for them to lay. Not too sure about the shower feature will have to try and look at some pics to get an idea, and like you say imagine what you will see when you first walk in. We are having overheads all around the kitchen. It is like a u shape but longer on the righthand side. On the left will be the fridge with a cupboard above, then benches and over heads, then around to the back of the u will be the stove with a slide out range hood, then around a bit more a little corner bench then sink (window right above the sink in white) and the rest is dishwasher and bench space, cupboards and overheads. (if all that makes sense) I have been having sleepless nights trying to imagine all this! LOL Getting very exciting but just nervous to see it come together. All 3 items listed are defects and are of concern. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7148 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3230 |
