Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 03, 2008 11:51 am Hi would love some help if possible. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
This is my first time posting here. We are extending our cottage... And we need to pick colours for our kitchenette, guest bathroom, kids bathroom, ensuite and laundry. Basically the colours we pick will be the same throughout. This is driving us batty We wanted a beachy feel as we are near the water. We were thinking of darker doors (possibly laminex stipple seal) as we have a baby and will be having more kids and were concerned if we had white or off white these would constantly look dirty. We are having squareform benchtops and were thinking mineral harmony as the top but am now concerned that these two together would be too dark. We have not picked tiles as yet some maybe we could lighten up with the tiles we choose as floor and backsplash? Very new to all this... First Timers! Please Please Please Help! Michael & Nicole Re: Kitchen / Bathroom Colour Help Please!! 2Oct 03, 2008 12:36 pm Hi Michael & Nicole,
We used stipple seal with Laminex Natural Quartz for our bathrooms & laundry. The laundry benchtop was squareform. I think stipple seal is a great colour & our floor tiles are light, but I think we could have gone darker & bathroom would have still looked light with white wall tiles. Thanks for the pics They look good I have not seen the Natural Quartz in a sample as yet but i think maybe i should go and grab one... In some pictures i have found on the net with it it looks a bit pinkinsh but yours doesnt seem so... Are you happy with your selections? Re: Kitchen / Bathroom Colour Help Please!! 4Oct 03, 2008 1:20 pm Natural Quartz has no hint of pink, definetely get a sample!
I went to a laminex display centre where they had large samples & that was a big help. Very happy with the combination, looks great. Sorry, I need to try & get more photo's of the bathrooms, laundry etc now that they are finished & update my thread. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.p ... ight=house there are a few photo's of bathrooms & laundry when cupboards first went in which might help. Re: Kitchen / Bathroom Colour Help Please!! 5Oct 03, 2008 1:53 pm Wow Jo!
What a great house! I really like the colours Ill be showing Mike tonight with the natural quartz! I think it would look good for us... How are you enjoying being all moved in? 18 months! OMG We have been waiting 3 so far and im chaffing at the bit LOL Re: Kitchen / Bathroom Colour Help Please!! 6Oct 03, 2008 2:40 pm hi nicmic,
I have a sample of the Natural Quartz as well, and agree with Jo that it doesn't have pink in it in real life! One of our other members Paula had Mineral Harmony on her benchtop in her old house, will try to find a pic for you. Re: Kitchen / Bathroom Colour Help Please!! 7Oct 03, 2008 2:43 pm here it is, hope you don't mind Paula not sure what her cupboards were though...

I just want something with darkish cupboards (small hands) but they are small spaces so im thinking light tops in squareform and something that would look classy and kind of beachy for our area. I pm'd Paula and she said that she put the Mushroom Linea with the Mineral Harmony and that looked nice which is something i will look at too. OMG We have been waiting 3 so far and im chaffing at the bit LOL We are loving being in the new house, still lots of things to do outside, but well worth the wait! Mineral Harmony looks really nice in the photo of Paula's old kitchen , the Natural Quartz looks quite a bit lighter & would perhaps be a bit more of a contrast with the stipple seal.......hopefully Michelle will pop in later to help you out Good luck in choosing your colours, you've found homeone at the right time Re: Kitchen / Bathroom Colour Help Please!! 10Oct 03, 2008 3:20 pm Thats great Jo

Talk to you over the week end. Thank you so much Take care Nicole, Michael & Baby Jack Re: Kitchen / Bathroom Colour Help Please!! 17Oct 04, 2008 5:18 pm Michael & Nicole, just reading that you want a beachy feel for your home.
Any chance you can post some photos? I understand your concerns about having children and keeping the place as finger mark free as possible. Do you relies that darker colours show marks more than lighter colours? I’ll just make some suggestions, it will be up to you wether you take them or not. To keep in with a Beachy theme, I would do your cupboards white, throughout, with your Mineral Harmony tops. I have kept my ideas for you to a natural look, to help blend in with a beachy theme. Hence the stone look, to represent stone and sand. Thank you so much for your help We have gone the Mineral Harmony tops and polar white cupboards throughout. I have attached the extension plans. I will take some photos today. We have a one bedroom fishermans cottage around 120 years old which we are building these extensions to. We wanted to keep the cottage for the heritage. The outside is chamfer(sp?) boards. Eventually our current home will be the main kitchen, lounge and dining area. Michael and his father will be doing this part themselves. I will have a look into the tiles today as well we have a budget of $30-35 per sqr mtrfor the tiles. All 3 items listed are defects and are of concern. Please seek qualified independent inspector and/or legal advice for your state. 1 8203 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7143 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3230 |
