Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge Re: I've buggered up my kitchen.....:( 21Oct 02, 2008 9:26 pm OK I understand the white concept - love it myself & made the problem of painting the walls in Raw Silk - now have cream walls in a white bathroom grrrr.
From your picture not sure if this would work - on the roof line - cornice not sure if it is shaped like a cornice could you put a strip of the dark from your under cupboards and place it on top of your white cupboards to take the eyes up. Then just put some stainless steel appliances or features on your benchtop to break up the white. Or not sure if you could also do this - put a feature tile on top of the splashback - maybe a mosaic like I have & make it 3Dimensional - I am sure this could be done. - This could be cheaper! What about tile transfers - although maybe not the best option Just some suggestions It will look better once you have put your final touches on it! She has a cookbook on display and a green succulent and it just looks sensational. I think when everything goes in it will change the look again. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: I've buggered up my kitchen.....:( 24Oct 02, 2008 9:39 pm The problem is my 'whites'! If the bench tops were just a crisper white, it would have been perfect; they look creamy though when against the other white. Or am I just being too fussy?
Thanks waterhaven for your ideas! I have just purchased a fabulous red toaster and kettle, so hopefully they will draw the eyes away a bit! xMel Re: I've buggered up my kitchen.....:( 25Oct 02, 2008 9:50 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅

If it were me, but remember not all decorators do the same, I would have matched a colour with your bench top. But having said that, I still think it looks good. And as waterhaven has said, once you add other elements to the space, it will make a big difference. What people tend to do is focus on what’s in front of them, not the big picture. You need to try and visualize the finished result. I think you will be surprised. I'm feeling a lot more calmer now! It was really starting to worry me, so I'll just chill out and wait for it all to be finished and then go from there!

in fact it is pretty close to my kitchen except we chose a dark splash and benchtop. Stark contrasts need getting used to but they work well together and are classic and modern. IMO it looks great. Re: I've buggered up my kitchen.....:( 31Oct 03, 2008 9:27 am Well done on posting the pics. ....I am another one who thinks your kitchen looks great so far and I think once your floors go in like Michelle said the colour of your kitchen will change a little bit and you won't notice.
I think those colour choices are really nice. Re: I've buggered up my kitchen.....:( 32Oct 03, 2008 9:33 am Madmel,
My brother has Asian Night in his kitchen, a white flecked benchtop and white tiles for the splashback. It looks great! I'll check if he'll let me put a pic up.... but if he does, I'll get him to send me a pic and I'll post. His kitchen is finished, it might make you feel better. I just wanted to say thankyou again to all of you for your suggestions and moral support when I was having my kitchen dilemma! You were all absolutely correct when you said it would be heaps better once everything else around it was done! I LOVE my kitchen now and actually think I made some great choices! So here's a pic of the finished product. We moved in a week ago so it's a bit chaotic!!
