Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 02, 2008 6:59 pm Yep. Buggered it up big time. With the help of an Interior Decorator. (The builder's decorator). My vision was the dark cupboards underneath white benchtops and white overhead cupboards. My exact picks were:
Underneath cupboards: Parbury Asian Night Bench top: Wilsonart Frosty White Mirage Overhead cupboards: Parbury Frosty White So what's wrong? The overhead cupboards are VERY white; and don't blend well at all with the bench tops. It annoys me more and more every time I look at it. The worst thing is, the tiles for the splashback are the same white (so will butt up against bench tops, so accentuating the difference even more). So what are my options??? The only options I can see are: 1. Replace overhead cupboards, and change tile splashback colour. 2. Replace benchtops. Only problem is, we can't afford to do either options!!!!!! So basically we're stuck with it. I was just wondering if anyone had any bright ideas on how to make it less noticeable or could advise what cost I might be looking at to change benchtops later down the track! I am so bummed. So hard to tell colours when you are dealing with the little sample thingys. I think I need a drink! xMel _____________________________ http://marshallmansion.blogspot.com/ Re: I've buggered up my kitchen.....:( 2Oct 02, 2008 7:09 pm Mel, wine fixes everything I think that is your answer and then you won't notice the colours
No really, are you able to put up any pics for us to look at. It might not be as bad as you think, maybe with a visual we can better offer some advice. OOOPs I noticed you have a blog I will see if you have any pics there...... but some here aswell would be good. I will be back................... Ok no pics of your kitchen there either but I did notice one very adorable brand new baby....................congratulations...........she is beautiful........ Now how about some pics of your kitchen??? Re: I've buggered up my kitchen.....:( 3Oct 02, 2008 7:19 pm I have to say it really annoys me that you have had help from a decorator and it’s wrong.
SO….was she a decorator/colour consultant? Or was she someone who works for the builder and has been put in the position of the decorator/colour consultant with NO experience! Sounds to me like the later, which annoys me even more! Just imagine how many other people have been led astray as well. Can you possibly post a photo of your kitchen? The frosty white mirage has tiny flecks of pure white in it so I think they look great together. I haven't seen on a large scale obviously but from my little chips they look great!

What makes you think the decorator is female? Do guys not do that sort of work? Actually, I had both when selecting my tiles. The female consultant's suggestions I was NOT happy with. They just did not work. So I went back a 2nd time to change them & had a guy help me out & his selections were spot on & took far less time ! So there you go Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: I've buggered up my kitchen.....:( 8Oct 02, 2008 8:04 pm d@n Michelle SO….was she a decorator/colour consultant? You would think with the names of the benchtop and cupboards being so similar that they were 'meant' to go together wouldn't you?
As gweluphome said ... we need pics ... Re: I've buggered up my kitchen.....:( 14Oct 02, 2008 8:55 pm Thank you everyone for your responses! I shall attempt to post some photos right now....
Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hope they work? I haven't really got a close up one that shows how bad I think it is! One shot is a front on shot, but it's really too far away to tell. The other shot shows the overhead cupboards that go over the fridge, and that really does show the difference I think. Michelle, the Interior Decorator (is a 'she'!); has her own company and I'm pretty sure she's not just exclusive to our builder. Now I'm worried about my paint selections too I wanted the house very stark, so just picked a 'white' off the colour swatches that 'seemed' to match with my other whites! Not feeling real confident right now! I don't have a copy of my colour selections (very disorganised, I know!), so I don't actually have the name of the white I have chosen, but I will get a hold of it so that maybe you can help me avert a disaster!!!!!! But I better be quick; this house is moving along so quickly! xMel Re: I've buggered up my kitchen.....:( 16Oct 02, 2008 9:00 pm madmel Oh my god they worked! ... that's for real! I really hope you get your head around this. Actually I bet you do The worst thing that can happen now is that you learn some great stuff for next time Re: I've buggered up my kitchen.....:( 20Oct 02, 2008 9:26 pm So……what was the problem again?
This looks fine to me. What don’t you like? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6636 2 4688 that will depend on the kitchen bench depth. you'll have to specify it so it allows for both the tap and the sink 1 7402 |
