Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 14, 2008 4:39 pm Hi guys, Next week I am going to order our new lounge suite, but I'm having soooo much trouble deciding which peices would best fit the dimensions of our famliy room. If you copy and paste the link below, I have made a mock up of our house, the family room (the odd shaped room on the left!) and lounge suite pieces are to scale, so feel free to move the pieces around, we have the choice of three, two or one seater pieces (the two one seaters are outside at the moment) and let me know what you think I should get and where i should put them! The window closest to the bottom of the screen on the left handside is a sliding door, so can't completely block it off. At the moment I am leaning towards the larger sofa (3 seater) and smaller one (2 seater) DH thinks we can fit a 3, 2 and 1, we could also get a three and two ones (sorry if this makes no sense

Does it open closest to the back wall or open closest to the other window? Sorry, do you know what I mean? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I'd do a two and three seater.. but bring them forward so people walked behind them to use the door.... sort of
I changed it... does that mean it's changed for you? I'm not good with technology.... I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Help me choose my lounge suite pleeeease!! 9Sep 14, 2008 4:58 pm Nah I don't think it changes on my one. But I think I know what you mean, would you have the three seater parallell to the long back wall? With the two seater would you have it on an angle or straight against the window or forward from the window so there was a gap behind it?
Thanks for helping! Re: Help me choose my lounge suite pleeeease!! 10Sep 14, 2008 5:08 pm I'd have the two seater on the other side of the three seater, the kitchen side... so the three seater is pretty much straight in front of the telly table, the front of the couch about level with the bit of wall between the sliding door and the other window.. then the two seater on an angle facing the telly so the side of the two seater faces towards the kitchen sink... I'm not explaining very well...
Then there is kind of a walkway behind the furniture to the sliding door.... I'm crap at explaining things... I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Help me choose my lounge suite pleeeease!! 12Sep 14, 2008 5:44 pm Hi Sharee,
just had a look - what a great program! I would put in a u shape chaise with the smaller side near the sliding door for access. I would put it out from the wall. I did it on the plan - have a look, just put the sectional u couch in. Paula Re: Help me choose my lounge suite pleeeease!! 13Sep 14, 2008 5:47 pm Oh are we allowed to use the chaise? I didn't think we were.... I thought it was only a three, two or one..... oh I'm confused.. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Help me choose my lounge suite pleeeease!! 15Sep 14, 2008 5:53 pm He he, thanks guys. We were hoping to have a chaise in the other lounge room, so I was hoping I would be able to fit two seperate peices somehow in the family room, but I'll check it out Paula! Gee furniture is hard! Re: Help me choose my lounge suite pleeeease!! 17Sep 14, 2008 6:11 pm Yep I saw it, it fits perfectly! Typical because we have just found some leather lounges that were actually in our budget but they only come in the three two and one I mentioned. Might have to keep looking around though because that room does seem to lend itself to a chaise or u shaped lounge Re: Help me choose my lounge suite pleeeease!! 19Sep 14, 2008 6:43 pm Sharee I would definately run the 3 seat paralell with your tv wall and if you can like Paula said that room is better for a chaise running along the window side. If you put a 2 seater in it would also be better on this side but would take up space walking though that sliding door. If you run any sofa along the other side it will close in the room and you will the have to look at the back of people sitting there.
If you can the other option is a 3 or 2 seat paralell with a single either side but this will make you room quite wide. Really your best bet is a u shape or a left hand chaise sofa. I am not sure where you are geting your sofas from but I know Freedom do a in home service for $150 for an hour or so and if you buy your furniture off them they take that back off the price of your furniture. Even if you don't end up buying from them they do all the measurements and give you the best options. First time building 2 storey home in NSW. Below Current plan have separate balcony.
